What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
55% of blood is made up of plasma.
Plasma is a straw coloured liquid rich in platelets, white blood cells, stem cells, proteins, minerals, ions, growth factors, and chemical messengers; all important for healing and repair.
PRP injected into damaged tissues will stimulate your body to grow new, healthy cells and promote healing. It does this by stimulating DNA repair
PRP has been used to treat many medical conditions such as hair loss, sports injuries, scars, sexual dysfunction, wound healing and tissue regeneration
PRP is prepared by drawing blood from a vein in your arm, then placing the RegenLab blood bottle in a centrifuge. This spins the blood at high speed in order to separate the platelets from the red blood cells.
Plasma contains many factors essential for cell survival including nutrients, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes, growth factors (Such as IGF and HGF) and proteins.
Growth factors stimulate growth in living cells
Among the plasma proteins, the molecules vital for the coagulation process and fibrin production will serve as a scaffold for cell migration and brand new tissue generation.
PRP treatment is an autologous procedure meaning ‘from your own body’ that involves a small amount of blood being drawn from the body.
Most people will require 2 - 3 sessions. Each set of treatments are spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart.
