Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mummies I know, and to my own dear mummy, who I lost nearly 10 years ago. I treasure motherhood, and although at times it can be incredibly hard, because nobody ever gave us an instruction manual for these little creatures ,😆 it is the most beautiful, lifelong journey. They bring me the greatest joy, and yes, sometimes worry and anxiety too. They change me, challenge me, force me to reflect and work on myself and help me grow as a person. I would not be who I am today without them. 💕

✨ 20 years since my last real Thai massage… and this one brought it all back.

Yesterday I had the most wonderful Thai massage at based in Aura Aesthetics Clinic on Rochester High Street (opposite George Vaults), and I just had to share.

From the moment I walked into the treatment room I felt transported straight back to Thailand, the beautiful scents, the warm air, the gentle sound of trickling water and relaxing music. It was such a calm and comforting space.

What I loved most is that Laila works in a very traditional way. She uses a large massage bed so she can move around the body and use her own body weight to apply pressure and guide stretches, something that is very typical in traditional Thai massage.

It instantly reminded me of when my husband and I lived in Thailand in our early twenties, when we would have Thai massages every couple of weeks on thick mats on the floor. Practitioners would lean in using their hands, arms, knees or legs to apply pressure and stretch the body. It’s such a beautiful and grounding way to receive a treatment.

The massage itself unfolded in three lovely parts, compression work through the body, followed by oil massage, and finishing with assisted stretching which felt incredible for releasing and mobilising the body.

As someone who works in the wellness world myself, I’m always so appreciative when I find practitioners who truly care about their craft, and Laila is one of those people. She’s also incredibly kind and generous with her knowledge.

She has only been in this location for about three months, so I’d really love more people to know she’s there. 💕

I’ll definitely be going back, and I’ll be recommending her to my own clients too.

If you love proper Thai massage, she is absolutely worth visiting.
