WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER A REIKI TREATMENT?
Hopefully you are feeling more relaxed after your reiki session, but what can you expect next?
💮Aftercare steps💮
💗 Stay Hydrated as per daily recommendations
💗 Allowing time for rest
💗 Clean eating
💗 Being gentle with yourself - allowing your emotions to flow
💗 Being aware of detoxification symptoms
💮 Staying hydrated
Reiki triggers your body's natural healing process, which means you will start a detoxification. Water helps to flush away these toxins and helps you to have more energy and alertness when the healing process makes you feel tired and sleepy. So many of us don’t drink our suggested daily water intake, so be mindful of that and try to stay hydrated as per daily recommendations
💮 Rest
Rest will help the reiki continue to work!
If you can book your reiki appointment when you can take it gently directly after, that’s ideal! Listen to your body, and if it’s telling you to have a nap or get an early night, listen to it. Perhaps have a break from technology in this rest period, avoiding the urge to veg in front of the TV, choosing to read a book, sleep or have a soothing bath instead. Be gentle with yourself.
💮 Clean eating
Reiki begins this healing and clearing out process, which is supported by healthy eating and drinking. So try to avoid alcohol or caffeinated drinks, particularly for the first 48 hours.
💮Being gentle with yourself and allowing emotions to flow
It is natural and common to feel emotional or to cry during or after a reiki treatment, as emotional healing is a part of the process of reiki. Sometimes you think you are having a reiki treatment for comfort from pain or a physical health condition, and it triggers a deep emotional healing of a relationship or situation. Reiki flows where you need it most.
This experience can feel lovely or uncomfortable. Trust that this will pass. Some clients talk about feeling happy, relaxed, floaty and free. Or it may raise feelings of sadness, the need to beat up a pillow in anger or pound out your frustrations with a rigorous gym workout! Try to be gentle with yourself and know that whatever you are feeling that this will pass, keeping in mind this is all part of the healing journey.
Tears are good for you - these type of emotional tears actually contain stress hormones like cortisol and other toxins, and shedding these tears may help to reduce their levels in your body. This can lead to a sense of relief and improved mood, as crying can also trigger the release of endorphins and oxytocin, which have mood-boosting and pain-relieving effects.
💮Detoxification symptoms
As your body gets rid of toxins, you may or may not feel discomfort or pain in one way or another before you start to feel better. The vast majority will only experience very minor symptoms or notice nothing at all, but it is varied and unique to each individual. Stomach cramps, upset tummy and diarrhoea, headache, sneezing, runny nose, muscular pain, exhaustion, spots or a rash, are just some of the symptoms that might indicate your body is expelling toxins and blockages. This is nothing to worry about and is just the temporary intensification of symptoms that can occur during the healing process and is a sign that the body is actively releasing what no longer serves it.
