I have a small amount of space opening up for new supervisees.

Supervision, for me, is not about ticking boxes or just reviewing client work. It is a space for thinking, feeling, questioning, and growing as a practitioner. A space where you can bring the work, but also yourself.

I work with both trainee and qualified counsellors and supervisors, and my approach is relational, reflective and grounded in ethical practice. I am interested in how you think, how you are with your clients, and how you develop your own professional identity over time.

Supervision with me will include:
• Space to explore your client work in depth
• Attention to the therapeutic relationship and use of self
• Support with ethical decision making and complexity
• Gentle challenge where needed
• A consistent structure that supports your development

I am a Senior Accredited member of the NCPS and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision. I have been in practice for 15 years and have been training counsellors for a number of years, so I understand both the reality of the work and the journey of learning it.

I offer supervision for trainees, newly qualified, working towards accreditation and supervision of supervision.

Sessions are available online and in person in Rochford, Essex.

If you are looking for a supervision space that is thoughtful, containing and supports you to grow in confidence and depth, feel free to message me to arrange a chat or book in a "see if we fit" conversation here https://calendly.com/libertytalkingtherapy/meet-catherine-supervision

There has been a lot of discussion about life and being a therapist. I have written this blog which I hope resonates and supports therapists and clients when life happens

There are moments in life when everything changes, and nothing about your work pauses to make space for it.Parents age, roles quietly reverse, and responsibility arrives without asking. What once felt solid becomes fragile, and what once felt optional becomes necessary. And still, the work continues....

Being a therapist is an amazing privilege that I don't take lightly.
Recently there have been a few topics that have appeared that feel different, new, more relevant than they were when I qualified so many years ago.
The latest blog explores one of these
Hope you enjoy

There’s a quiet belief many people bring into therapy that they often don’t realise.I need fixing.I need improving.I need to become someone better than I am.It often arrives dressed up as motivation, self-awareness, or personal growth. On the surface, it can sound hopeful. But underneath, there....

I am often asked if I know what would make a good counsellor and that's quite an loaded question and one suspect comes from a sense of not being good enough.

My latest blog, I hope, helps to explore this in a little more depth, one that will reassure those that are either hesitant to begin or questioning whether to continue learning.

Check it out here:

Training to be a counsellor is a big decision. For many people, it isn’t just about learning skills or gaining a qualification. It’s about stepping into something that feels meaningful, challenging, and deeply personal. It’s about wondering whether you’re right for the work; and whether the t...

Supervision is often described in practical terms, but its relational impact is just as important.
This piece explores what supervision can be when it is steady, ethical, and human.

I have recently left Spill, an online therapy company where I worked as a supervisor for nearly five years.Leaving has been one of the most difficult and humbling professional experiences of my career. Not because the work ended badly – quite the opposite – but because I suddenly realised I was s...

Starting therapy can feel daunting.

So many people worry they need to explain themselves well, know where to begin, or arrive with a clear plan.

You don’t.

A first therapy session isn’t a test. It’s a gentle conversation, taken at your pace. Some people talk a lot, some are quieter, some cry, some don’t. All of it is welcome.

We’ve shared a new blog on what really happens in a first therapy session — to help take some of the mystery (and pressure) out of starting.

Sometimes the first step is simply allowing yourself to be heard.

Check out my first professional blog!! What to look for when starting therapy. I hope it's helpful to people who are searching for something and thinking that counselling might be the thing they need

Every person who goes to my website helps to support the business and it is hugely appreciated

Starting therapy is a big step, and it’s completely natural to feel unsure about where to begin. Many people wonder what therapy will be like, how to choose the right therapist, or whether it will actually help. The truth is: choosing to seek support is already a meaningful act of care for yoursel...

✨ ADHD is finally being talked about more – and thank goodness!

But… late diagnosis is still so often dismissed. And that dismissal hurts. It isn’t just annoying – it can feel like rejection in the body. 💔

RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) is real.
It’s the echo of all the times we were told we were:
❌ too much
❌ too direct
❌ too difficult

We don’t choose to react that way – and believe me, I work hard to accept those parts of me. But it’s not a choice.

🌟 The upside?
Many of us with ADHD are deeply empathic, and we pick up on the “vibe” of others instantly. That’s my superpower as a therapist.

And as a teacher of therapists, I get to model that acceptance – reminding others that their neuro-spiciness isn’t a flaw… it’s what makes them brilliant. 💡
