A record-breaking day for this team 🙌

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust's latest high-volume day saw 18 gallbladder removals – that’s 50% more than usual – including 12 carried out with the help of surgical robots 🤖

All of this means shorter waiting times and even better care for patients.

Surgeon Sandeep said:

‘Using more robotic surgery means less strain on us as a surgical team and more precision for patients. The whole team was focused and coordinated – it takes a lot of planning to keep everything running smoothly so each patient can go straight into theatre without delays.’

Last Saturday we performed 27 gall bladder operations in 1 day at the elective hub at King George Hospital.
Robotic & laparoscopic surgery.
4 surgical teams/ Lot of behind the scenes work/
No cancellations on the day.
And everyone finished on time.
This was the highest number of gall bladder Surgery that we have done in one day.

Well done to the teams today👏

Lot of background work by our admin team/admissions/preassessment/Day Surgery/Recovery Staff/Porters who ensure the success of these high volume lists.

With the correct support a lot is achievable...even training in these high volume lists.
