If ever you want to make a new mum feel like a failure, tell her to put her child down ‘drowsy but awake’.
I had read about the magical concept of ‘drowsy but awake’, Google was full of it, the health visitors were raving about it.
So what does it mean?
It’s supposedly a stage between awake and asleep where you put your child down and then they dose off to sleep beautifully.
Why might this not work for you?
🔸 It’s difficult to find the drowsy stage
🔸 if you do find it, when you put your child down they’re awake immediately, or worse they’re really annoyed
So what are your options then?
🔸 place your child down about 10 mins after they fall asleep
🔸 place your child down awake and settle them in the cot
If you want achieve the second option, I’m talking all about settling methods in my monthly 90 minute sleep training masterclass.
