Where am I???
Yes, this was me - pre-covid days with dark hair (and, if I'm honest, a bit less fat too!). Any idea where I was?
It's a lovely location at the highest part of the London Borough of Havering. Although it's only a short drive from the centre of Romford once there you are surrounded by countryside. You can walk there through the Romford parks which, together, were planned to be the lung of Havering, drive (parking is still free) or get a bus part way.
You may know that I love yoga outdoors and way back in 2017 my midweek class was a outbuilding in this park's Walled Garden. We even had a labyrinth for mindful walks for a while.
It's an enormous area of rolling countryside, a lake, grazing cattle and at the top you can look down over the whole of Havering across to London and the 02.
Coffee and cake are served in the Visitors' Centre (built on the old manor house) and you can sit inside with views across the park or outside on the terrace.
There's a children's play area and a herd of deer to keep the little ones interested.
The Walled Garden still opens (Tuesdays and Thursdays) when volunteers are at work and you can buy freshly picked produce including honey from the garden's own beehive.
Any idea what the park is called? And why I'm posting this now? Let me know if the comments ... and all will be revealed soon.
