LGEM Alternative Pathway To Become A Consultant In NHS

10 Easy Steps .

Now that the UK has passed the Medical Training Prioritisation Bill,

all IMGs have been rejected despite having very high merit.

This means that, from now on, training seats will be offered to UK graduates only.

Maybe because of this day, Allah made me create LGEM London Global Emergency Medicine

Now LGEM is the only suitable training route through which any doctor can become a registrar or consultant in the NHS UK in the shortest possible time of just 4–5 years.

Steps to follow:
1. Join LGEM as MO / RMO / SMO or Non-Trainee.
2. Complete the Membership exam in 2 years.
3. Obtain Certification of Completion of Training.
4. Have a solid portfolio and join NHS as a Registrar in the NHS UK, like Dr Ubaid Ur Rehman Khizir
has joined.
5. Continue LGEM for 2 more years in the Advanced Certification Programme.
6. Complete FRCEM / Fellowship.
7. Obtain Advanced CCP EM Certification.
8. Build an advanced skills portfolio for consultant appointment.
9. Start working as a Consultant in the NHS UK in fixed-term or substantive appointments.
10. Submit the portfolio to GMC, along with extra competencies acquired through a clinical post in the NHS, and obtain GMC Specialist Registration.

This whole process can easily be completed in just 4–6 years without joining the National Training Programme.

We are aiming for Dr Khizer to complete FRCEM in 2027 and step up as a consultant.

He joined LGEM in 2022.

What is the confusion here?

There is no other suitable option for doctors to become consultants in the NHS other than LGEM.

Please prove me wrong on this.

Bring me a single logic or reason.

Congratulations Dr Aymen & Dr Abu Bakar
for making London Global Emergency Medicine
proud .

So proud to share that 2 of my Trainees from Pakistan attempted MRCEM OSCE exam in December 2025 and both of them have passed MRCEM OSCE in very first attempt.

Here it’s important to mention that from 2000-2023 Pakistn didn’t produce even 5 MRCEM.

But in last 3 years after LGEM programme, we now have nearly more than

200 MRCEM Primary
50 MRCEM intermediate &
10 fully qualified MRCEM .
40 + waiting for MRCEM OSCE Seat.

That’s how we changed EM in Pakistan.

Next Batch starting from 8th Feb 2026.

2 Years LGEM CCP EM MRCEM Programme Batch 2026.
