This national eye health week, we’re looking at different stages of life and things to consider keeping yours, and your loved ones, eyes healthy.
Young adults have a lot going on. You’ve gained your independence and are working, driving, socialising and live life to the fullest. Generally your vision has stabilised so it’s easy to forget to make the appointments your grown-ups used to take care of. But remember to prioritise your eye health (don’t forget the dentist either!)
Remember to take breaks from your screen, peep your eyes healthy by following the 20-20-20 rule, every 20 minutes look at something 20 feet away (about 6 meters), for 20 seconds. Stay hydrated and get enough sleep, and always have sunglasses with UV protection to hand.
If you’re a contact lens wearer ensure you maintain good lens hygiene. Don’t skip any steps, and always use fresh solution. Don’t leave them in when they should be taken out (sleeping for example) and please don’t use tap water or saliva to clean your lenses!
This , think about whether you’ve noticed any changes in your vision. Early action can prevent long-term issues.
