Mindfulness Helensburgh, has been set up to help people from all walks of life embrace life in a positive way and one which will help you discover more about who you are, what makes you tick and what you want from this precious life. After 20 years working in the City of London, delivering business change and transformation for a well-known UK insurance company, I returned home to the Scottish seaside and embarked on an extensive training programme learning how to teach secular mindfulness with the Mindfulness Association. I am also a qualified Executive Coach, with AoEC, and have trained with the Karuna Institute in relational mindfulness and core process psychology.

My Story

Mindfulness Helensburgh has been set up to promote mindfulness as a life skill within the local community.

We’re all looking for ways on how to flourish in life. To grow, to develop and to be happy. This means opening ourselves up to experience all the good life has to offer. To be fully present for every moment.

Mindfulness Helensburgh offers a range of mindfulness based approaches including, 8-week Mindfulness Based Living Courses for everyone, workshops, day and weekend retreats and one-to-one coaching and mindfulness sessions. Founded by myself, Wendy Alexander. I am a certificated mindfulness teacher who has trained with the Mindfulness Association and who complies to the UK Good Practice Guidelines for Teachers. I am also a personal coach, in accreditation with Academy of Executive Coaches and offer 1 to 1 coaching sessions.

I have been a meditator since my early 20’s when I was introduced to Pranayama breathing and meditation to help me recover from the trauma of a house fire. The realisation that life is both precious and impermanent led me to the Buddhist path. In 2007, I was introduced to Rob Nairn and mindfulness as a secular practice. Mindfulness totally revolutionised my meditation practice, rather than disassociating with my pain, resulting from past trauma, I started to explore it with a kindly curiosity. Curiosity became my guide and remains so today as I continue to explore and learn through tuning into the sensations in my body, a kind of bottom up approach, rather than head down approach!
