Finally the good news my fellow Audiology Colleagues have been waiting for 🙌
Ear Care is currently an unregulated procedure but these welcome changes will give experienced clinicians like myself some much needed peace of mind that not just anyone can perform such an invasive procedure.
On another note, my Ross clinic is almost fully booked for tomorrow, get in touch with your local Audiologist for an appointment.

National Aural Care Strategy Group Position Statement

Limited information about the risks of poor quality and ineffective training, inappropriate equipment and incorrect aural care methods, place patients at a higher risk for permanent damage to their ears and hearing.

These significant concerns around patient safety in aural care led to the formation of the National Aural Care Strategy Group (NACSG) to address these multiple and wide-ranging issues in the UK.

Long post, customer story about all the care you receive when you choose an Audiologist 🙂
A lovely customer came to me with symptoms of fullness, hearing loss, and feeling dizzy. Both ears needed microsuction and when the wax plugs had been removed it revealed a perforation in one of the eardrums which had been there some time.
Being able to take photographs of the eardrums enabled the patient to send these directly to the GP the next day when the perforation began to discharge middle ear fluid as I predicted it might. The GP was more than happy with my diagnosis and advice of keeping the ear dry when washing hair and swimming. The Patient then came the following week to have aural impressions taken and we had these custom swim moulds made so not only can she wash her hair without being worried about water getting in, she can enjoy her upcoming holiday and swim with peace of mind 🙌🏊‍♀️
