Chatterminds introduces mindfulness and emotional regulation to children, teenagers and adults, providing tools to look after your mental health and wellbeing.
At Chatterminds we learn mindfulness, discover ways to nurture our mental health, make crafts and have lots of fun! Emotional regulation is a skill just like learning to catch a ball or ride a bike. I feel passionate about teaching children about their emotional well being from a young age and helping them to be resilient to life's challenges.

Do you live in Bristol? Do you have a child with SEND?
I will be running another mindful parenting course with my friend and colleague Claire Louise from the Mindful Parenting & Community Project in October.
The course is in-depth, 10-weeks, and online. It is not a 'parenting' course, but it will give tools to keep calm yourself in those stressful moments. It will help you to take a step back and see the bigger picture so that you can meet your child's needs and respond rather than react.
The course is completely free. We have run it many times and have had really positive feedback in the past.
If you are interested in this or know someone who may be, please do get in touch.

Good morning you beautiful lot. xx
Thank you so much for the kind comments and messages, checking in on me after my hysterectomy. I am 4 weeks post op now and healing well. I have to be careful not to do too much (I overdid it yesterday) but I am getting a bit better every day.
My mind now wants to do more than my body but this space that I have had has been a gift for me to stop and reflect on my life.
I am looking forward to getting back to Chatterminds and will spend the weeks before Christmas planning and creating new stuff. I then plan to be fully back on it in the new year.
Thank you for being patient. This extended pause in my life has reinforced what is important to me and I intend to make these things a priority: My health, eating right, moving my body, being in nature, quality time with loved ones, not rushing around and being busy and of course mindfulness and being connected to my experience.
Love to you all. xx

My name is Carol and I set up Chatterminds to support families with the ups and downs of life. As a parent and an ex teacher, my personal experiences are at the centre of everything that I do.
When I was a child I used to spend a lot of time worrying. I was bullied at school and this had a massive impact on my life. I didn’t want to go to school, I found it scary and over time it made me very anxious and unable to sleep. This anxiety grew and took over my life. I then developed a fear of night time because of the worry about about not sleeping.
Services like Chatterminds didn’t exist when I was a child. Actually all I needed was someone to tell me I was OK and teach me about my feelings and how to manage them. I needed to hear that it is ‘OK not to be OK’, and that lots of people feel anxious about things, even adults. I needed support to become resilient in school and life.
A number of years ago, I was introduced to mindfulness. It has completely changed my life. I now relate completely differently to my thoughts. Thoughts could take over my days and weeks but by practising mindfulness, I am now more present with day to day family life. This has massively impacted my parenting and how I deal with stress. Mindfulness does not eliminate stress but it helps me to respond more skilfully to life’s challenging moments.
It is really important to me that Chatterminds is a fun, creative, nurturing space for families to learn all about their feelings. To develop a tool kit of strategies to get the most out of the good bits of life but also to become more resilient and confident in challenging times.
CHATTERMINDS aims to:
Equip families with the skills and benefits of mindfulness
Help children to recognise emotions and their associated physical sensations in the body
Empower children to self-regulate their emotions and develop confidence in communicating their feelings to others
Help children to build resilience
Facilitate children’s understanding and acceptance of themselves and others
Help families recognise the importance and value of positive self-care
Foster an ethos of kindness and gratitude
Support the whole family
I can’t emphasise enough how much I can relate to the challenges of being a parent. I have a 5 year old son and a daughter who is 11 going on 16! Even though I teach mindfulness and have lots of experience with children, I don’t always get it right. I feel really strongly that we are all human and doing the best we can. What I do know is that since i’ve been on this mindfulness journey, as a family we have learnt to appreciate each other more, the time we spend together and we manage the stressful moments more effectively.
