🍂 Autumn Crafts at The Abbeys. 🎨

Lillian, Margaret and Moira spent the afternoon chatting away, making beautiful autumnal decorations for the home.

We love our craft sessions. Research shows that activities like these help with focus, hand–eye coordination and memory. It's also a lovely way to feel proud and accomplished.

Life at The Abbeys is about enjoying these meaningful moments and spending time doing things we love. ✨

🌿 Our Day at Stringers Garden Centre. 🌿

We hopped on the minibus to Stringers Garden Centre where we enjoyed a wander round the shops before sitting down together for a cuppa and a bite to eat.

At The Abbeys, our minibus helps us get out and about regularly, enjoying the little things that make life meaningful. If you’d like to see more of what we do, we'd love to meet you and show you around. 🏡✨

We enjoyed a trip out in our minibus to Whitby’s Fish and Chip Shop for a chippy tea. 🐟

Betty, Lynn, Violet and Linda all tucked in with empty plates all round and ice cream to finish.

Regular outings like these are an integral part of life here at The Abbeys, giving us the chance to enjoy favourite meals, see new places and make new memories together.

🚐 Bill’s Summer Stories.

Bill shared wonderful memories of holidays with his wife Barbara, their children and little dog Rosey. Every summer, they would hitch up the caravan, set off in the car and spend weeks exploring.

Bill proudly told us about one exciting journey across France on the way to Spain and another special trip with his son to visit historic sites including the resting place of his uncle, who served in the war.

Alongside these adventures, Bill built a successful career as a salesman for Watts Tyres, which took him all over the UK. He was never afraid to try new things and he brings that same bravery and enthusiasm to our home every day.

Looking back through his photos together, it was clear how much these moments meant, holidays, family and stories that continue to be told.

🛒☕ We had a wonderful morning visit to the shops!

Joyce, Betty, Lillian and Lillian’s daughter joined us for coffee and cake and it was such a joy to see the smiles, laughter and conversations flowing.

Trips like these are proven to boost wellbeing, independence and connection, and we’re proud to make them part of our regular activity programme here. 💛

We’re excited to be a part of Each Other Care’s Summer of Reminiscing and can’t wait to share how we’ve brought our residents’ stories to life. 🥰

🌞 Summer Reminiscence at Each Other Care.

As part of our Summer of Reminiscing, we’ve been revisiting holiday memories that shaped our residents’ lives and recreating those moments in our homes and beyond. From French holidays to seaside trips, these experiences have been brought back through food, music and themed events.

Research shows that reminiscence therapy sparks happy memories, boosts wellbeing and strengthen connections. For many, summer holidays are treasured experiences and revisiting them helps create meaningful moments for everyone who lives with us.

We can't wait to share our stories with you.

Smiles all around at bowling! 🎳

Minnie, Betty, Howard, Moira, Geoff and Janet had a brilliant time. Bowling is a fantastic activity, helping with coordination and movement and bringing back happy memories.

Our minibus takes us into the community twice a week, where we learn something new, enjoy something familiar, or just have a good laugh together.

A perfect way to spend the day! 🥰

🖼️ A day at York Museum! ✨

Our two new residents enjoyed their first trip out with us today. It was a wonderful chance to explore the museum together, share stories and learn something new.

Outings like these help residents feel part of the wider community while creating shared experiences that bring us closer. For our new residents, it was also a lovely way to start building friendships. 💜

☀️🌿 We had a wonderful time at our Bank Holiday Garden Party! 🎶🍰

It was the perfect way to enjoy the sunshine together for our last party of the summer. Good food, music and plenty of laughter made it a day to remember.

Moments like these unite us, lift our spirits and remind us that there's always a reason to celebrate here at The Abbeys!

We’re also welcoming new residents for residential, dementia and respite care, a warm invitation to join our community here in Rawmarsh. 💚

☀️ Our Boat Trip at Swinton Lock! 🚤

What a wonderful day out on the water! Bob and his wife Jackie joined us for a relaxing trip, alongside Stuart, Michael, Lillian and Janet. Bob shared stories about his golf days, proudly reminiscing about being a handicap 8, and his passion for the sport was truly inspiring.

Everyone enjoyed the fresh air, new scenery, and time together, creating meaningful moments of connection, conversation, and joy. Experiences like this are stimulate our senses, encourage social bonding, and our lift spirits. We love variety here and it was a brilliant way to spend a summer's day!
