I love this imagery of anxiety from Gemma Correll, it is humorous but also shows just how big anxiety can feel for people who struggle with it daily. Anxiety can be really debilitating, impacting all areas of life.

In our classes all students are welcomed without judgement into a safe space, where you are encouraged through gentle yoga to learn to understand and listen to your body, to make sense of the sensations and emotions you experience. We do this together and over time develop greater understanding of how these physical patterns and pathways can be interrupted, and reset using various yoga practices such as pranayama (breath).

Students in our chair yoga, Hatha yoga, and mindfulness classes report feeling empowered and confident to manage stress, and describe significant improvements in their level of anxiety. It is wonderful to see each students journey and how they incorporate their practices into daily life.

Cultivating gratitude is one of the highest forms of spiritual practice 🕉️🙏🏼

From gratitude comes contentment and from contentment blooms happiness 🌸🌼🪻😊

Maybe try cultivating contentment by counting all the things you are grateful for, before bed every evening… those little things you may take for granted… a hot mug of tea, a relaxing bath or shower, a smile on the face of a loved one, the blossom on tree, washing on the line, your breath that moves within you… your body that moves with your breath.

What more do you need? You are enough…🫶🏼

You might have noticed I am not posting as much at the minute.

Two reasons

1. REST- 😌 resting from constant engagement, resting from the machine that eats time, the one otherwise known as social media.

2. CONNECTION- Having time with family and friends. Also, Connecting with my studies, yes I am studying again! 🤓 📖 😂 Taking time to develop my knowledge and experience to grow and serve the community better.

⭐️ In addition to weekly Rawmarsh Yoga Classes we have some exciting DEEP DIVE Wentworth Yoga Workshops coming up, open to all abilities- 👍 New and current Yoga Life Journey students welcome.

🤓 📖 These workshops will provide a good mix of traditional yoga practices and learning through variety of activities. The workshops outlined are great for anyone who would like to grow understanding of yoga practices and feel comfortable using the terminology and practices, giving you confidence in class, and the knowledge for practical applications in everyday life.

Breathing in

Breathing out

First breathing exercise from Buddha - a simple exercise to bring our awareness to the present moment. To be fully aware, fully present for our lives and for our loved ones. No complicated steps to follow.

Just breathing in and breathing out.

Such a simple practice, but it can take time and patience to master even this practice.

With so many distractions and the busyness of life how often do we become
👉🏼 disconnected
👉🏼 lost in the past or lost in the future.
👉🏼 living in forgetfulness.
👉🏼 stuck in feelings of anger, regret.
👉🏼 Our body left here in the present while our minds are stuck going over past situations or longing to rush into future.

Life is happening now, right here in this moment. Life isn’t always full of those feel good moments, sometimes life is really difficult and being present can be a challenge, especially if escaping is a comfort, even if short lived comfort. For some escaping has been a way of life, survival.

By creating a safe space, a place free of judgement and a place to just be as we are, we can begin the practice. Bringing awareness to breathe, the connection with inhalation and exhalation in our body, we become mindful, present and more able to see clearly and objectively. We connect our body and mind, we can begin to change our patterns of thought, behaviour etc all with the use of our breathe. First step is taking a few moments to connect with the breathe each day.

we attain oneness of body and mind…
We begin to be alive, to be present.
Mindfulness is to be aware, to be present.”
