✨ This New Year, be gentle with yourself.

Instead of strict resolutions or “fixing” everything overnight, try giving yourself compassion and understanding. Change doesn’t have to be perfect or immediate and it’s okay to take small steps, at your own pace. 💙

Remember, your journey is unique, and every step forward counts. You deserve kindness, especially from yourself.

The festive season can bring up all kinds of feelings.

Whether it’s certain people, places, or emotions, it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Knowing your triggers when it comes to drugs or alcohol can help you feel more in control.

💡 If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a moment to check in with yourself:

🔹 What situations might feel difficult?
🔹 Who can you reach out to for support? Are there friends or family you can lean on?
🔹 What helps you feel grounded?

You deserve to feel safe and supported, especially at this time of year. If you're struggling, you’re not alone.

Want to learn more about managing your feelings? Chat to one of our trained recovery workers for free, without judgement via our webchat. Visit wearewithyou.org.uk

Did you know that in the UK, data suggests that the most commonly searched terms online in relation to drug or alcohol support include: “Addiction Recovery Centers UK” and "Alcohol rehab programme"?

Earlier this month, we invited rehab providers to an event in Rotherham to help more people learn about the rehab support available.

Reece Storr, our service manager, said: "The day was important for people to meet with the providers of rehab services and to understand how the different facilities work. We wanted to share more about our own rehab offer and let people know that there is an option in Rotherham but also share good practice and raise awareness of our partners. I'd like to thank the Unity Centre Rotherham for hosting and our wonderful partners and collaborators for joining us."

The event was so successful, we're now looking at planning our next one!

🎄 Christmas can feel lonely and it’s okay to talk about it.

While the world around us celebrates, it’s common to feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or alone. Sometimes, that loneliness can lead to using drugs or alcohol to cope. If that’s where you’re at right now, we’re with you.

You don’t have to go through this season on your own. We’re here to listen, without judgement, and support you.

If you’re struggling, get in touch with ROADS. 📞Call 0808 1753981 or visit https://www.wearewithyou.org.uk/local-hubs/rotherham-roads

Your mental health matters more.

Taking care of your wellbeing means putting yourself first, and sometimes that means missing out on social events. And that’s completely okay. 💙

Here are some cosy, alcohol-free ways to enjoy the festive season at home:

🎨 Get creative - try painting, drawing, or crafting some Christmas decorations
📚 With the weather getting colder, it’s okay to stay in and watch your favourite TV show or Christmas film
🍳 Try baking a Christmas treat
🧘‍♀️ Try meditation to relax and see if you can go for a walk in the daytime
📞 Connect with a friend or loved one over a call or video chat

Your health and peace of mind come first. Remember, you’re not alone. We’re here for you every step of the way.

Heard of nitrous oxide? It's a gas used medically as an anaesthetic and is also known as "laughing gas".

Some people use it as a recreational drug, usually inhaled from a balloon. It’s a depressant that slows down your brain and your body’s responses, not unlike alcohol, and leads to feelings of relaxation or happiness.

It’s effects and dangers vary depending on it’s used. Learn more and stay informed this party season ➡

Here are our tips to prevent harm this season:

✨Start low, go slow - pace yourself if you're drinking or using drugs
🥂Cutting back on alcohol? Set a drinks limit that feels right for you
💧Stay hydrated and eat beforehand - it helps whether you're drinking or using other substances
🚖Plan your journey home in advance. Pre-book a taxi to get back safely
🧑‍🤝‍🧑Stick with a buddy - try not to use drugs or drink alone
📱Keep your phone charged and check your way home before you head out
🚫Mixing drugs and alcohol can increase your risk of harm - try to avoid mixing

You can still have fun and look after yourself 💙
