IMPORTANT MESSAGE - POTENTIAL SCAM EMAIL

Good afternoon

We have just been made aware of a potential scam email being sent to some NHS patients.

We believe this to be fraudulent and have reported it as such to NHS England.

The email is from INFO-NHS Assistance and asks patients to click a link to verify payment details for NHS dental and prescription services.

PLEASE DO NOT CLICK THE LINK

If you have vulnerable family members or friends/neighbours who may be concerned about receiving such a message, please reassure them and ask them to delete the email without responding.

We will provide further information should we receive it.

URGENT MESSAGE - BRAITHWELL SURGERY

Due to a power cut affecting the whole area, our Braithwell site will be CLOSED to patients this afternoon. We have been advised that the power issues will not be resolved until after 6pm.

Staff from Wickersley are contacting any patients due to be seen this afternoon.

We apologise for the inconvenience, which is out of our control.

Dear All

We have seen an increase in requests from patients who have seen on the news or read on Social Media that GPs can now prescribe a medicine called tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) on the NHS to help people lose weight. Whilst this is true in some parts of the country, South Yorkshire ICB has not yet confirmed if it will be available on the NHS for weight loss in our region.

This means that we are currently unable to prescribe Mounjaro or any other similar medication for weight loss at Morthen Road Group Practice.

If/when the decision is made to allow us to prescribe it, there is very strict national criteria meaning it will only be available to a limited number of patients.

This will initially include patients with:

Patients with BMI over 40 AND at least 4 of the following:

• Type 2 diabetes
• High blood pressure
• Sleep apnoea
• Cardiovascular disease
• High cholesterol/triglycerides

Please be aware that in the meantime we are still able to offer support through:

• Referrals to Rotherham Healthwave (who do not prescribe weight loss injections)
• Lifestyle and dietary advice
• Healthchecks and medical reviews.

We will keep you updated, but in the meantime ask that you refrain from submitting Anima requests or requesting appointments with our Clinicians who are unable to help.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR FEMALE PATIENTS:

NHS England have published a statement last week indicating that, ‘From July, younger women (aged 25 to 49) who test negative for HPV, meaning they are at very low risk of cervical cancer over the next 10 years, will safely be invited at 5-year intervals rather than 3, in line with major clinical evidence"

Today is International Nurses Day and we wanted to take the opportunity to recognise our team for their commitment, care and dedication. They all work tirelessly to look after their patients needs with humility and compassion - our practice would not be the same without them. **** Morthen Road Car Park - Polite Request ****

Good morning.

Over the next week, the Apothecary building is having a new roof and our builders will need permanent access to the back of the carpark. Some of the spaces have been blocked off.

Please park sensibly and do not park under the windows.
