🦵 Top 5 Stretches for Shin Splints 🦵🏼

1. Tibialis Anterior Stretch (Front of Shin)

How to do it:
• Kneel on a soft surface with your feet pointed behind you
• Gently sit back onto your heels
• You should feel a stretch in the front of your lower legs
• ✅ Hold for 20–30 seconds, repeat 2–3 times



2. Calf Stretch (Gastrocnemius)

How to do it:
• Stand facing a wall, hands on the wall at shoulder height
• Step one foot back, keeping the heel on the ground and knee straight
• Bend the front knee and lean forward
• ✅ Hold for 30 seconds, switch legs



3. Soleus Stretch (Deeper calf muscle)

How to do it:
• Same setup as the calf stretch, but this time:
• Bend both knees while keeping the back heel on the floor
• You’ll feel a stretch lower in the calf
• ✅ Hold for 30 seconds per side



4. Toe Towel Scrunches (Strength + Stretch Combo)

How to do it:
• Sit in a chair with a towel flat under your foot
• Use your toes to scrunch the towel toward you
• Strengthens and stretches the small foot and shin muscles
• ✅ Do 2–3 sets of 10–15 reps



5. Standing Toe Tap Stretch

How to do it:
• Stand or sit with your feet flat
• Rapidly tap your toes up and down for 30–60 seconds
• Activates and lightly stretches your tibialis anterior
• ✅ Great warm-up or cool-down



⚠️ Tips for Shin Splints
• Don’t overstretch if you’re in acute pain
• Combine stretching with rest, ice, and strengthening
• Ensure your footwear has proper support
• Gradually return to running or high-impact activities
