Have you ever felt sick and tired of being sick and tired?

Not necessarily unwell enough for clear answers, but not feeling like yourself either.

This is something I see quite often in clinic — people who are doing their best to look after themselves, but still feel tired, achy, inflamed or just not quite right.

In my latest blog, I’ve shared a much simpler way of looking at this.

Instead of trying to do everything at once, it often comes down to two things:

• reducing what is placing pressure on the body
• supporting the body with what it needs

This might include things like stress, sleep, nutrition, lifestyle factors or environmental influences — all of which can quietly build up over time.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about understanding your body a little better and making small, manageable changes.

If this is something you’ve been experiencing, you can read more here:

“A stroke without intention is an empty gesture.”

This is something I was taught during training, and it has stayed with me ever since.

In therapy, it’s not just about movement — it’s about why that movement is being made.

Every technique, every stroke, every adjustment should have a purpose:
• to support circulation
• to ease tension
• to encourage movement
• to help the body respond differently

Without that intention, treatment can feel like something being done to the body rather than with it.

In clinic, my focus is always on working with the body — adapting each session to what is needed on the day, rather than following a routine.

Because real change doesn’t come from repetition alone — it comes from awareness, intention and response.

Many people don’t realise that recovery after surgery isn’t just about time — it’s also about how the body heals.

Following surgery, it’s common to experience:
• swelling
• fluid retention
• tightness through the tissues
• areas that feel restricted or uncomfortable

As the body heals, scar tissue can also form. This is a natural part of recovery, but sometimes it can feel tight, restricted or affect how the surrounding area moves.

This is where treatments such as vacutherapy may be used to gently support the body during the recovery process.

Using controlled suction and release, vacutherapy works with the tissues rather than applying pressure, which can feel more comfortable for sensitive areas. It may help encourage circulation, support lymphatic movement and reduce that feeling of heaviness or tightness that can develop after surgery.

It can also be used to help improve the mobility of scar tissue over time, supporting the surrounding tissue to move more freely as healing progresses.

Every client is different, and timing is important — treatment is always adapted depending on where you are in your recovery and how your body is responding. Often I work with scar tissue that is years, even decades old. Other times it can be from much more recent surgeries or injuries.

This is something I’m always happy to discuss if you’re unsure what is appropriate for you.

Did you know your fascia doesn’t just affect how you move, but also your lymphatic flow? When fascia becomes restricted, it may slow natural fluid circulation, leaving people feeling sluggish or puffy. Understanding fascia’s role can be key to holistic well-being. In my latest article, I share how targeted fascial release techniques can help restore both mobility and flow.

Neck tension is something I see very frequently in clinic.

Many people assume it’s just caused by posture, but there are often several contributing factors.

Common causes include:

• long hours at a desk or computer
• spending time looking down at phones or tablets
• stress and muscle guarding
• restricted fascia through the neck and shoulders
• previous injuries or repetitive strain

When the tissues in the neck and upper back become restricted, it can lead to stiffness, headaches and discomfort when turning the head.

Therapies that focus on improving circulation and mobility in the tissues — such as fascial work, massage and cupping techniques — can help release tension and restore movement.

Many clients say they feel noticeably lighter and freer through the neck and shoulders after treatment.

If you often experience neck tightness, it can also help to take regular movement breaks and gently stretch the neck and upper back during the day.

Many people ask about the difference between traditional cupping and the vacutherapy I use in clinic.

Static cupping usually involves cups being placed on the skin and left in one position for several minutes while the suction remains constant.

Vacutherapy works a little differently. I use a specialised machine that creates a gentle rhythm of suction and release while allowing the cups to glide across the skin. This helps me move through the tissues and fascia rather than leaving the cups in one place.

Both approaches have their place, and I use each technique depending on what will best support the client and the area we are working on.

Many people are surprised at how comfortable and relaxing these treatments can feel.
