How are you taking care of you today?
On this World Mental Health Day, I want to pause and ask: when was the last time you moved with intention â not just to âget fit,â but to reconnect, to breathe, to care for your mind?
Movement isnât just about muscles and bodies â itâs a vital bridge between whatâs happening emotionally and physically inside us. Studies show that physical activity supports mood, reduces anxiety and depression, improves sleep, and strengthens resilience. ďżź
One form of movement Iâve found especially powerful is Reformer Pilates. Because it blends strength, control, breath, and attention, it offers a unique way to calm the nervous system, engage the body, and shift the mind. ďżź
evidence from Pilates research suggests that practicing Pilates (mat, or machine-based) can meaningfully reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and fatigue â while boosting energy and wellbeing. ďżź
So today, Iâm asking you:
â ⢠What movement or breath exercise will you gift yourself?
â ⢠Can you pause sometime to stretch, breathe, or engage your core with focus?
â ⢠If you do have access to a Reformer or Pilates class, could you try it with curiosity and kindness for yourself?
Even small acts â a few mindful movements, a few deep breaths, gentle stretching â can ripple into steadier mood, clearer thoughts, more compassion for ourselves. Letâs use this day to recommit to caring for you.
