Texture Tuesday!!

🧴 Facial Serum vs. Facial Oil: What’s the Difference—and Do You Need Both? 🧴

If you’ve ever stood in front of your skincare shelf wondering whether a facial serum and a facial oil are basically the same thing… you’re not alone. They’re often used together, but they do very different jobs.

Facial serums are lightweight, fast-absorbing formulas designed to treat specific skin concerns. They’re made with small molecules that pe*****te deeply into the skin, delivering active ingredients like Turmeric root extract (brightening), sodium hyaluronate (hydration), or Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 (anti-aging). Think of serums as the “problem-solvers” in your routine.

Facial oils, on the other hand, are all about sealing and nourishing. They sit closer to the surface of the skin, helping to lock in moisture, strengthen the skin barrier, and prevent water loss. Oils are rich in fatty acids and antioxidants, making them especially helpful for dry, dehydrated, or compromised skin.

The key difference?
• Serums add targeted ingredients to your skin
• Oils seal in hydration and protect what’s already there

How to use them together:
Apply serum first, then oil. The serum goes on clean skin to deliver actives, and the oil comes last to lock everything in. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, you may not need an oil every day—but the right lightweight oil can still be beneficial.

Bottom line:
If your skin has specific concerns, reach for a serum. If your skin feels tight, dry, or irritated, an oil can make a big difference. And yes—many people get the best results by using both.

Skincare isn’t about more steps—it’s about the right ones for your skin.

Set up for one of my favourite treatments today.

Soothing coconut Thai poultice massage.

1. Herbal poultices filled with Thai herbs such as lemongrass, turmeric, kaffir lime, ginger, and camphor.
Add coconut oil extra hydration and a gentle, comforting aroma.

2. Gentle Thai massage techniques using slow pressure, stretching, and kneading for a soft, flowing, and nurturing experience.

3. The heated poultices are pressed, rolled, and dabbed along the body enabling heat to open the pores, allowing the herbal and coconut properties to absorb into the skin.

4. Deep relaxation phase with a light oil massage using warm coconut oil to seal in moisture and prolong the calming effects.

Key benefits

🌿 Muscle & joint relief
Heat relaxes tight muscles and eases stiffness.
Thai herbs are traditionally used to reduce inflammation and soreness.
Excellent for chronic tension, overworked bodies, or gentle recovery.

🥥 Skin nourishment
Coconut deeply hydrates, softens, and protects the skin barrier.
Leaves skin supple, glowing, and lightly scented.

😌 Nervous system calming
Warmth + slow rhythm encourages the body to shift into a parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) state.
Helps reduce stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue.
Many people feel grounded and emotionally soothed afterward.

🌬 Improved circulation & energy flow
Heat and massage stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation.
In Thai tradition, this supports balanced energy flow (sen lines).

🌙 Better sleep & overall wellbeing
The treatment often promotes deeper sleep and a lingering sense of calm.
Especially beneficial during periods of stress, exhaustion, or emotional overload.

Especially good for
Anyone seeking deep relaxation without intense pressure
People with muscle tension, stress, or poor sleep
Dry or sensitive skin
Those wanting a nurturing, comforting spa experience

Texture Tuesday

🧴 Lotion vs. Cream: What’s the Difference? 🧴

Ever wondered why some moisturizers feel light while others feel rich? It comes down to their oil-to-water ratio.

✨ Lotions have more water, making them lightweight, fast-absorbing, and perfect for everyday use or warmer weather.
✨ Creams contain more oils, giving them a thicker texture that deeply nourishes dry or sensitive skin—especially in colder months.

Same goal, different feel. Choose what your skin needs today. 💧

For example: Both these products are ideal for a dryer skin or skin needing an extra boost in these cold winter months.
Nourishing Orange Flower Daily Moisturiser - lightweight and easily absorbed
Frankincense Nourishing Cream - ultra-rich and luxurious

Tuesday 6th January - is known in the Christian Calendar as Epiphany, the visitation of the Magi or Three Wise Men. One of the gifts they brought was Myrrh.

🌿 Myrrh: An Ancient Treasure Still Revered Today 🌿

Used for thousands of years in rituals, medicine, and perfumes, myrrh is more than just a resin—it’s a symbol of healing, grounding, and reverence. Harvested from the Commiphora tree, its warm, earthy aroma has long been associated with calm, protection, and spiritual reflection.

From ancient Egypt to modern wellness practices, myrrh continues to remind us that nature’s wisdom is timeless. ✨

This is our Essential Oil of the Month. £15.30 instead of £18 available until 31 January.
