As we approach December, we would like to highlight some of the issues we know people are currently struggling with at this time of year.
- Darker days, feeling less energised, motivated and productive
- Feeling the pressure and demands of Christmas, which can cause people to feel overwhelmed
- Heavy workload and mock exams for students
- Burn out for teenagers in their final years at school, mental and physical health declining
- Strain on relationships
- Issues with food/body image can become harder at this time of year
- School absence - children can struggle to keep going in and the pressure of absences take its toll on the whole family
- Increase in anxiety as demands increase
- Social anxiety increases, as higher demands to spend time with people
- People mask more, which can lead to melt downs or shut down
- Loneliness, poor self worth for those who already do not feel good enough
- Managing family life
- Bereavement/loss
- Suicidal thoughts
- Self harm
- The management of addictions can become harder
