Dizziness is one of the most common reason for people to visit their Doctor around the world. The term "dizziness" means different things to different people – some use it to describe feeling lightheaded or off balance, while others use it to describe a feeling that their surroundings are spinning. You can feel dizzy for a few minutes while looking up, bending down or rolling in the bed. It may be a case of completely curable dizziness. Call your GP now to get a referral. Never ever thought I’d be sharing a Peppa Pig episode with my professional network… but here we are. 🐷

One of the world’s biggest preschool entertainment brands — valued at around £5 billion, reaching children in 180+ countries and translated into more than 40 languages — has just shown the hearing journey of one of its main characters.

For a show watched by millions of young children and their families every day, that kind of representation matters. It helps normalise hearing challenges, encourages conversations at home, and shows that getting help for hearing is simply part of looking after your health.

That’s genuinely good for the world.

Hear well. Live well.
Share this episode of Peppa and George’s adventure with friends and family around— even if you’re not a big fan.

Can’t wait for the over £1b annual brand merchandise industry to cash on the occasion and grow the hearing awareness even more!

Today is World Hearing Day 2026.

A reminder that hearing care isn’t optional, cosmetic, or “nice to have.” It’s fundamental to communication, cognition, balance, work, relationships — life.

To mark the day, I’m sharing my slide deck summarising the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance on Hearing Loss in Adults (NG98).

Clear referral criteria.
Red flags.
Assessment standards.
Timely intervention.

No fluff. Just what good care should look like.

If you work in primary care, ENT, occupational health, or hearing services, this is worth a refresh.

Is anyone else getting excited about the World Hearing Day 2026 in 11 days?

I’ll be sharing my slide deck of the NICE Hearing Loss in Adults guidance — the document that sets the standard for assessment, referral, and management in the UK.

If you work in primary care, ENT, community services, occupational health, or provide hearing care yourself, this is worth revisiting.

It covers:
• When to refer
• Red flags not to miss
• Appropriate assessment pathways
• Timely intervention and follow-up

Here’s the full guidance for anyone who wants to go straight to source: https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng98

Standards exist for a reason. The real question is whether we’re consistently applying them.

Here’re a few of the slides attached, more coming on world hearing day. Watch this space.

19th anniversary today for Audiology Planet!

Humbled. Grateful. Still a little stunned with all the love and support I get for this small venture.

I arrived in this country with very little in money and expectations, planning to stay a couple of years. Life had other plans. The professional and personal growth I’ve experienced here simply wouldn’t have been possible without Britain being such a great country to work and live, and audiology being such a great profession.

I’m deeply thankful to every colleague I’ve crossed paths with. From each one, I’ve absorbed something — a clinical habit, a phrase, a way of thinking — that I still use in clinic today.

When I come home emotionally drained — sometimes with nothing left to say after spending the day absorbing, carrying, and helping sort through other people’s worries — I’m reminded how fortunate I am for my family. For their patience. For their understanding. For tolerating the silence, the tiredness, the moments when I need to decompress before I can be fully present again.

I rarely say this out loud, but some of my greatest influences are people who don’t even know how they have managed to shape me. Back when we had paper notes — the thick bundles everyone else avoided — I used to read them cover to cover. The letters from GPs, ENTs, neurologists and physicians were masterclasses. The clarity. The precision. The eloquence. It was better than any textbook. That quiet exposure shaped my clinical reasoning in ways formal training never could. In a very odd way, I miss that the most in my non-NHS job today (sad life I know!). To those unnamed heroes — thank you. You taught me more than you’ll ever know.

Most of all, I’m grateful to the people I’ve seen in my clinic/s. Many trusted me in their most vulnerable moments. Being able to help, to receive that trust— is a big privilege. Trust is never a small thing. Every time someone places it in me, it pushes me to work harder and think better.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to message and congratulate me on this 19th anniversary as well. Your words mean more than you realise.

As Tinnitus Awareness Week comes to a close, the conversations shouldn’t.

Tinnitus can be deeply distressing — and a lot can be done when the right expertise is involved. If you’re unsure how to help, refer on.

Many ENTs, AVPs, audiologists, psychologists, and hearing therapists dedicate their careers to managing bothersome tinnitus. That depth matters.

Leaflets and “just distract yourself” may be a tactic to avoid deeper questions, but it’s rarely a great strategy to reduce the bother of tinnitus.

The British Tinnitus Association and American Tinnitus Association continue to provide credible support and information.

Today I picked up one of the classic texts from authors who shaped a lot of our understanding of tinnitus. It’s a reminder that this field keeps evolving — and that there’s always more to learn.

Tinnitus isn’t “just ringing” — for many it’s distressing, life-impacting, and misunderstood. My latest blog for Tinnitus Awareness Week reflects on a real patient journey and why clear information, structured support, and early referral to trained clinicians really matter.

A real patient journey, better way forward.

Tinnitus Awareness Week is a reminder that “there’s nothing we can do” is outdated. ‘Distract yourself’ doesn’t work

Persistent tinnitus is common, many a time- distressing, and most of the time- manageable with the right approach.

Early reassurance, accurate counselling, hearing assessment, and timely referral make a real difference. Let’s move from dismissal to structured support across primary care and ENT pathways.
