Welcome to the Age-tervention episode 2!

Our ‘wellness coach’ Raymond is guiding Adam and Danielle to take up some positive habits to set them up for healthy ageing.

Now it’s time to stretch that brain – imagination and learning are key to keeping the ‘little grey cells’ tip top. 🧠

Art tutor Bianca () is going to show our two youngsters (in their 40s 😉) how to create art for wellbeing, in a beautiful lakeside park. Appreciating the scenery by painting it is a great mindful activity.

Learning a new skill such as painting helps keep your brain agile and better able to cope with changes or injuries. 🎨🖌

As you can see, Adam and Danielle found this activity really fun and engaging, which is a key way of keeping your brain sharp.✔

Anyone can benefit from doing a creative activity like this!

Remember - It’s never too early to start ageing well.

Welcome to the Age-tervention!

Meet Raymond, our ‘wellness coach,’ guiding Adam and Danielle—two forty-somethings who admit they could probably be doing more now to age well in their future.

Today begins the ‘Age-tervention’ reset. Midlife is a turning point; the habits you form today shape tomorrow. Watch as Raymond, a seasoned wellness coach (qualifications: the school of life, 78 years’ experience), aims to shake up their routine.

They’re motivated but need a push, so we’ll start with practical steps: breathing exercises for relaxation, then Anneka shows how strength training supports lasting muscle and bone health for all ages. This is just the start—stay tuned for more in their Age-tervention journey in the next episode.

Remember - it's never too early to start ageing well.

Behind the scenes with our member Sue 🐑

We went to a beautiful Welsh mountain early one morning to film Sue – a 76-year-old sheep farmer telling us about her story for our ‘member story video’.

Sue took us all around her farm and the house that her family has farmed from for generations. The farm is so high on the mountain that we were actually in the clouds for the morning! ☁

Sue isn’t slowing down. In fact, when she’s on her quad bike, she’s speeding up! It was really inspiring to see how Sue runs her farm and it gave us a real insight into her life and the importance of health to keep Sue fit to do the job she loves. 👩🏼‍🌾

The stone barn was home to a nest of swallows, and she’d been shearing sheep there the week before. It was a perfect location to talk about her life, and it was so great to see Sue in her environment – continuing her family’s farming legacy, feeling younger at 76 than she did at 58.

Sue’s story involves two challenging health journeys: A shoulder injury and cancer diagnosis. Using her AXA Health membership, she quickly accessed the treatment and care she needed to get back on the farm quickly.

Later in the day Sue showed us some of the jobs she does at the farm – including using her fabulous vintage tractor. 🚜

Let’s talk about mental health! 🌟🧠

At AXA Health, we’re committed to ensuring that Mind Health remains a priority. Earlier in the year, the fifth edition of our Mind Health Study uncovered some challenging insights.

Having a conversation with a family member, a friend or a colleague can be the first step in improving your mental health. While it may seem daunting, talking to others often helps lessen feelings of loneliness or anxiety and it can be the first step toward things improving.

In our Group Therapy documentary, we invited a group of stand-up comedians to share their personal stories about managing their mind health. Whether that be working through family challenges, supporting friends or managing stresses at work, they all found that talking made a real difference. They believe sharing can be therapeutic.

Watch the documentary, featuring comedians Neil Patrick Harris, Nicole Byer, Atsuko Okatsuka and more…

Creativity, problem solving, adaptability … these are just some of the strengths people with dyslexia can have. 💪

Despite these strengths, you may find some aspects of everyday life challenging. There’s no right way to navigate the challenges. You might use a screen reader, or need more time to complete a task.

Whatever works for you, we know it can still be overwhelming. Our members can:

• Get their documents online and take their time reading them 💻 📱
• adjust the font size
• choose ‘dyslexic friendly’ print
• use screen reading technology 🖥️
• talk to us if they’d rather speak to someone. We’ve got plenty of time to listen.

Do you like talking about the ‘good old days’? Perhaps you enjoy gardening and drinking tea? It’s a telltale sign you’re old, according to Britain’s youngsters.

A poll of 1,000 children aged seven to 16 found listening to the radio and watching daytime TV were other signs you’re pushing on – along with moaning about aches and pains.

AXA Health Medical Director Dr Pallavi Bradshaw said: "Children can have forthright views about ageing and wellbeing. “

“We know that these stereotypes are outdated and that people are increasingly looking to maintain their health and wellbeing as they age so they can enjoy a healthier future."

Dr Bradshaw added: “Looking after your health is important at every age – your actions now will benefit your future self to be able to enjoy a healthy and active later life and defy age stereotypes. No matter if you are 30, 50 or 70 – it is never too early or too late to make changes and prioritise your health. "

Top 10 activities ‘old people’ love, according to kids:

It’s a positive step to seek help for your mental wellbeing. It can be daunting and overwhelming to keep track and remember all of your symptoms when it comes to discussing them in your initial
GP appointment.

Our checklist can help you prepare by having a record of your thoughts and feelings that you can take with you. The checklist is just a guide, not all questions may be applicable to your individual needs, however, it can help you to think about what you want to express to your GP.

You can also use it in preparation for the types of questions you might be asked if your GP refers you to a specialist mental health clinician or therapist.

Are you in your 40s and experiencing forgetfulness, finding yourself in a room without knowing why, or having difficulty recalling a close friend’s name? It might not just be down to the mental load of juggling work, family and social demands at this stage of life: you might be experiencing perimenopausal symptoms.

Up to 62 per cent* of all perimenopausal and postmenopausal women report these cognitive symptoms.

The hormonal changes leading up to menopause can affect cognition, but researchers are also discovering that this period may be a crucial opportunity to safeguard long-term brain health.

It’s now believed that managing brain fog with HRT can effectively support recovery from cognitive challenges and may offer some protection against dementia or depression later in life**—an increasing concern as women’s life expectancy rises.

There are also many non-hormonal ways women can lower their risk of developing dementia, such as adopting a healthier diet, staying active, reducing stress and alcohol intake, and avoiding smoking.

Fortunately, these same strategies can also help alleviate many perimenopause symptoms.

Managing brain fog and anxiety symptoms with HRT and healthy lifestyle habits can support cognition and lower dementia risk later in life. 🧠🧠

We're proud to support 's National Parent Survey 2025. This year nearly 6,000 parents shared their views, hopes, struggles and fears.

One of the emerging themes highlighted by this year’s survey is that many parents feel lonely, and that parenting has a big effect on mental health.

33% of parents say they find parenting difficult... that’s the equivalent of 3.7 million parents.

19% of parents say that being a parent has had a large positive impact on their mental health, in the last year - that’s 2 million parents. 😍
