Fulfilled Living
In every one of our homes and schemes we express God’s love through compassion and care that helps people live life to the full - fulfilled living. Milward House has an active social life in which residents can take part or follow their own pursuits. We appreciate that each resident has their own individual interests, hobbies and pastimes, and we endeavour to support our residents to maintain this important part of their lives. Our residents are encouraged to lead the lifestyle that they choose, doing as much or as little as they want - residents can simply choose to put their feet up with a daily paper (by arrangement) or a good book from the home’s own collection. Our weekly programme includes activities such as board games, annual holiday week, hymn singing, food events, flower arranging, arm chair exercises and craft classes. There are also coffee mornings, clothing and book sales by mobile outlets and visits by local Christian choirs and musicians. A team of ‘Friends’ of the home support and befriend our residents by coming to see them on a regular basis. In addition, residents benefit from the involvement in the life of the home from likeminded Christians living in the Retirement Living housing units on site. Our Christian background is at the heart of both our values and our actions. At Milward House we try to create a community where Christian worship, prayer and support are a core part of daily life. We have morning devotions Monday – Friday, Sunday services, a monthly communion service and monthly Residents prayer meeting. There are a number of churches of various denominations within easy reach of the home. Around the Home
Enjoying a south facing aspect and lovely views from the front, Milward House provides residential care (including dementia care) in 25 rooms. The home also includes a purpose-built block of seventeen flats, built on three floors, each having a small entrance hall, bed-sitting room, kitchenette and toilet. There are several bathrooms with assisted baths and a walk-in shower. We have one large lounge and two smaller lounges. The main lounge and dining room are both located on the ground floor. The lounge gives access to a pleasant patio area which is wheelchair accessible and a popular sun trap with our residents, and the dining room looks out to the mature, enclosed gardens. A further, separate sitting room and a hobbies room are also located on the ground floor. A guest room is available for relatives and friends by prior arrangement. We enjoy showing visitors around the home, but request that if this is the purpose of your visit you call us first to arrange a suitable time. This allows us to allocate a member of staff to answer your questions. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time during the day, and there is the opportunity to purchase a meal in the home if they wish to do so, by prior arrangement. Accommodation
