We enjoyed a lovely morning of cupcake decorating today, led by our nurse Irina alongside the wellbeing team. Residents enjoyed getting creative in a relaxed setting, with lots of chatting.🥰

Creative activities like this can be so beneficial, giving residents the chance to express themselves, enjoy social connection, and take pleasure in making something which looks beautiful and tastes incredible. 🧁

Wishing a Happy Mothering Sunday to our Residents, Visitors and Staff today.

We have had a lovely day enjoying a delicious lunch, followed by a beautifully prepared Afternoon Tea - with the added pleasure , thanks to The Kent Academy of Irish Dance performing to our Residents who kindly gave their time today .💗

We were happy to welcome the U3A Ukulele Group this afternoon. Their performance was thoroughly enjoyed by our residents and made for a really uplifting afternoon. There was a lovely atmosphere in the room, with smiles, music, plenty of feet tapping and plenty of enjoyment throughout. 🥰Thank you to the group for spending time with us and giving us a brilliant afternoon. 🤩

Thankyou to Jade Roxanne Music & Wellbeing joined us this afternoon, performing a selection of well-loved songs from the 50s and 60s🎙️Creating a wonderful atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. One of the loveliest things about her visits is the time she gives not only in the lounge, but also to residents in their rooms, making sure more people can share in the music. 🥰She has a beautiful voice and such a natural way with residents, which always makes her performances feel personal and inclusive. Music can mean so much in a care home setting and this afternoon was a lovely example of that.

We thoroughly enjoyed a brilliant talk from Nigel Dawson Talks about the Great British Music Hall and Variery Theatre and how it progressed from pubs , theatres and later into the age of television. It brought back many happy memories for our residents, who loved reminiscing about the performers they remembered from their younger years and enthusiastically sang along to some of the best-known songs of the time. Thank you to Tim for such an interesting, enjoyable, and nostalgic talk .🤩

In recognition of International Women’s Day we’re celebrating the incredible women who have influenced our lives— especially the women who live at RHL and whose lives hold so much knowledge,history, experience and fun .
They have lived through enormous change.They have worked hard, cared for others ,endured loss, and kept going with a strength and humour that deserves to be recognised. 🤩
We’re also thinking of the brilliant women who came before them, whose lives helped shape the world we know today. Lastly we are grateful for the women who work here or support us who bring such care, kindness, skill and dedication each day.🥰

There’s something wonderful about this time of year — brighter mornings, warmth in the air, and the garden starting to come back to life. The daffodils are out, and there are little pops of colour everywhere you look.
As Wordsworth put it, in one of our favourite poems, this feels especially apt on World Book Day:
“I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.”
It’s a simple reminder of just how much beauty there is in the changing seasons. 🌼 🌷

This afternoon, our residents enjoyed a lovely watercolour painting session, led by Irina one of our talented Nurses along with our wellbeing team.🎨
There was some beautiful work created, with each painting full of colour and individuality. Sessions like these are such a nice way to spend time together, giving everyone the chance to relax, be creative, and enjoy trying something different.
A big thank you to Irina for leading such an enjoyable session. 🥰🤩

Stephen Dunnett was with us today, performing a brilliant mix of songs from the past,that were clearly enjoyed by everyone in the room. 🤩He has a lovely way with residents and a real rapport that makes his performances feel personal and engaging. There was lots of smiling, singing along, and a really wonderful atmosphere from start to finish.🎙️😊 Thankyou to Stephen.
