I was interviewed by Liz founder of Worth it, which, using Positive Psychology, coaching and training people in Coaching, well being and supporting young people. Becoming a coach has been revolutionary for me personally and professionally. I'm really cringing posting this but there are still huge gaps in how we support building young people's mental health and resilience and helping them thrive. So in children's mental health week here is my YouTube debut lol.

15 years ago today I started my first job as a qualified nurse on an adult acute mental health ward what an amazing journey I've had. I've had the privilege of working with some amazing people made some very special friends and learnt so much. I've had the utter privilege of being part of so many stories and journeys. I learned so much from the people I have been alongside and met some utterly inspiring people. And said heartbreaking goodbye to some. I'm now a positive psychology youth coach alongside the therapeutic training and neurodevelopmental assessment training I've had and excited about what is next for me. Nursing is always going to be my heart.

So people say that I shouldn't post stuff like this on here but I think it's important to know that we are all human and we all need to work at stuff. Our brains are wired to look for danger and to protect us and it focuses on the negatives automatically. It takes work to not do that all the time. I've had a few weeks where all I can see is danger or sad and all I am focused on is the negative or the past or what I don't want. I stopped doing all the things that helps me focus on what's working and what has gone well and what I am working towards. My physical health was poor energy low and I was wallowing. So I reached out to the right people and I got help getting back on track. I started back at the basics of who I was paying attention to, and sleep and journalling and goal setting and movement fresh air. And today I did a scary thing and went to a back to hockey session on my own and played hockey for first time since school. And wow what a buzz. Taking my self to the limit of my stretch zone and achieving was the best feeling. So I encourage you all
1. What are you paying attention to
2. What are you doing for your energy
3. What are you doing to give yourself a boost? Taking you to your stretch zone?

If you are interested in our activities but worried about how your child will cope with a new environment then please drop us a message. We can arrange a quiet time for you to bring them for a look around to familiarise themselves. Please arrange a time though as we aren’t always there.

Half Term Activities below - don’t leave it too late to book as spaces are limited as classes are kept small.

As always I am so proud of being a nurse first and for most. I don't think as mental health nurses we are very good at articulating our unique skills and offerings we have to give. But I would like to say Happy Nurses Day today to all my nursing colleagues from all branches and in all areas for doing the job you do.
