Through my own yoga and mindfulness practice, I have witnessed vast improvements in my own health and mindset. It is now my ambition to help others heal themselves and improve their health and quality of life. In a Syd Yoga class there is no competition, no strict formula, no expectations and no gurus. Just a group of people, looking inwards and releasing outwards. Syd Yoga guarantees a full 90 minutes of attentive practice, and is a world away from the conveyor belt yoga classes found in the West today.

Marilyn was one of my main teachers during my Yoga teacher training in 2012 - 2014, I cannot credit enough how much her outlook on life and her relaxed and free approach to Yoga influenced my personal practice and everyone of my own taught classes since. I returned to Marilyn's classes in 2019/20 when I was going through another rough period in my life, and once again she helped remind me I'd started to take life and my practice a little too seriously. Leading Researchers and Institutions
Several Western scientists and institutions are at the forefront of contemporary yoga research:

Dr. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa, PhD (Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital): Studies the clinical uses of yoga for insomnia, stress, anxiety disorders, and mental health in schools and workplaces.

Dr. Steffany Moonaz, PhD (Southern California University of Health Sciences): A research scientist and yoga therapist who developed and evaluated a yoga program for individuals with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Dr. Holger Cramer (University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany): A prominent figure in yoga research, known for numerous systematic reviews and meta-analyses on yoga for conditions like low back pain and depression.

🌿 'Stretch Then Chat' – Gentle Movement, Good Company, and Thoughtful Conversation
Looking for a relaxed and enriching way to spend your morning? 'Stretch Then Chat' is our new weekly gathering designed especially for those who enjoy gentle movement, meaningful conversation, and a good cuppa.

🧘‍♂️ Start with a gentle stretch in our Main Room. Each session begins with light movement to ease the body and awaken the senses—perfect for keeping joints supple and spirits lifted.

📚 Afterwards, we gather in our cosy Library Room for unlimited tea, coffee, herbal infusions, and biscuits. One of us will read a short excerpt from a book—perhaps something from our collection on yoga, philosophy, or science—that sparked curiosity or reflection.

💬 Share your thoughts, or simply listen We’ll chat about the reading, share personal reflections, and explore ideas together. Whether you love a good discussion or prefer to listen quietly, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

📖 Borrow a book, take your time Each week, you’re welcome to borrow a book from our library. No rush to return it—just be mindful others may be waiting to read it too.

🏡 Held in our warm, spacious rooms Our main room and Library offer a peaceful, comfortable setting to move, think, and connect. It’s a lovely way to feel better physically, mentally, and socially.
