Enjoying Pancake Day....

Last week, residents at Balmore House were flipping and tossing pancakes as they thoroughly entered into the fun spirit of Pancake Day. There was a lot of discussion as to what the best toppings were...but the classic lemon juice and sugar still came out on top. Our residents are nothing if not traditional!

Enjoying Valentine's Day.....

Everyone at Balmore Country House had a lovely time this Valentine's. We had the wonderful Kellan come and entertain us with a terrific afternoon of songs and music. He always puts on a great show, and it was perfect for the occasion. Add in some lovely food and drink and a generous supply of red roses, and it was smiles all round. We hope you enjoyed Valentine's Day as much as we did!

A lot of preparation.....

We all had a really great Valentine's Day at The Ruddington, but everything didn't just happen by chance. Our residents had quite a hand in getting the home ready for the day. They spent the week crafting decorations and flower arranging, so that the home looked really lovely for everyone. A huge thank you to each and every person who worked so hard to make the day a success.

A lovely lunch.....

Residents at The Ruddington really enjoyed their Valentine's Day and celebrated the occasion with a lovely lunch. Balloons and decorations were in abundance, as was a lovely meal. Celebrating a special Day...

Huge congratulations to our lovely St Peter's resident, Sandra and her husband. Last week, they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary! With Valentine's Day around the corner, it was the perfect occasion, and they enjoyed a special Chinese meal together in our Bistro. Here's to them celebrating many more!

A lovely thank you.....

Attached is a letter from one of our residents' families. Peter wrote to express his sincere appreciation to all the staff here at Orchard. He is very happy and grateful for the care and kindness shown to his wife. The compassion, professionalism, and dedication of the team have meant a great deal to him and his family. He truly appreciates the support provided during this time and thanks everyone for going above and beyond to make his wife feel comfortable and well cared for. So a huge thank you to Peter for taking the time and trouble to say thank you - it means a lot.

Orchard House - expressing our creative side....

A big thank you to Creative Paths, who visited our residents to guide them in creating some fab paintings this week. Creative Paths provides arts-led creative and reminiscence workshops for people living in care. It's a wonderful way of promoting engagement and linking that with maintaining fine motor skills. It's always fun to hold these sessions, and this week was no different. Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to next time!

Flu not getting us down!

Despite the temporary closure of Orchard House due to a flu outbreak, the staff and residents decided they wouldn't let that spoil their fun. So they came together to organize a basketball game between themselves. There were lots of enthusiastic players, creating a positive and energetic atmosphere at home. The game encouraged teamwork and friendly competition, allowing everyone to momentarily forget about the situation and have a good laugh. Both the staff and residents really enjoyed the game, and it brought a sense of unity and joy to the home during a challenging time.

New Year entertainment...

St Peter's residents were treated to another spectacular show this week from wonderful local entertainers Kevin and Marie. They brought a wonderful range of characters to life and had our residents singing and dancing along to the music. A big thank you to them, and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves so much.

A lovely Christmas Day!

Balmore residents celebrated Christmas Day in style this year. The home was buzzing from the moment the first present was opened until the last mince pie was eaten! It was really great to see so many family members and friends come to visit, and we hope they all enjoyed themselves as much as our lovely residents clearly did. So many people worked tirelessly to make sure the day was a success, and so a huge thank you to them. The day was truly special, and these photos give you just a glimpse of the wonderful time everyone had. We hope you hsd a great Christmas too!

Christmas at St Peter's....

What a lovely day all our residents and staff had on Christmas Day. It was a day filled with laughter and joy, and made all the more wonderful for seeing so many family and friends visiting the home. There were plenty of Christmas jumpers on display, and there seemed to be a never-ending stream of presents to be opened. Christmas lunch was wonderful - a big thank you to our kitchen team for pulling out all the stops! In fact, a huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the day so special for our residents and their families.

What a feast!....

Christmas Day at The Ruddington was a lovely affair. Christmas music filled the home, as did the love and warmth of lots of visiting family and friends. All our residents had a wonderful time, and many agreed the icing on the cake was the fantastic Christmas lunch prepared by our kitchen angels! A huge thank you to them for all their hard work and that of their colleagues across the home who gave their time and commitment to make sure that our residents had a special day.
