It's about time these things change... Survivors safety, support and dignity should be priority! It's hard to believe and infuriating that we still have to fight for survivors rights... Unfortunately reality too often still tells another story...

Victims will no longer have their counselling notes routinely requested by police, after many reported feeling their privacy was violated.

Such requests have left some victims feeling like they were the ones under investigation, causing distress and leading some to withdraw from the process entirely.

This must never happen. We are deploying the full power of the state to make this country safer for women and girls.

I'm so glad this reaches the public now and I really hope the government will take action and laws will be in place for those who use AI to sexualise photos, not just of women, and men, but even more so of children. This isn't a new problem with AI. AI has been used to create fake sexualised images of children and adults for a long time now but the general public is only just waking up to this new nightmare of sexual exploitation...
I only hope that the more awareness there is the more support there will be for the victims...

Dissociation is coming up a lot with my clients. Often it is experienced as a problem, 'something is wrong with me', and as something scary and misunderstood...
I view it as an incredible tool to ensure survival, and I'm always curious about how it is experienced for each client. There is no one way how dissociation feels or looks.

I love how Carolyn Spring - Reversing Adversity explains the biochemical aspects of dissociation in this short video, and how important the relational aspects are when we meet dissociation in the therapy room. Dissociation is a direct result of trauma, and most often trauma happens in a relational context. The undoing of trauma, the rewiring of the brain, and the building of new neural pathways also needs to be addressed in a relational matter... ✨

When we talk about 'dissociating', what do we actually mean? It's a word that comes with a variety of meanings – not least because it's hard to really understand what dissociation feels like on the inside unless you've experienced it yourself.

For me therefore it's really important that therapists learn directly from their clients: that they're curious about their unique experience, rather than assuming that they know what 'dissociation' means and feels like to them – and, worse still, imposing others' meaning and frameworks on them.

Because when I experienced dissociation, the most helpful therapists stayed present with me, helping me articulate and understand my experience rather than offering quick fixes. It was this relational connection and encouragement to reflect and notice my experience that I found so incredibly helpful: rather than having a 'grounding technique' imposed upon me, it was my own curiosity and mentalising that acted as a counter to my dissociation. And it helped me to trust the therapist more, knowing that s/he wasn't riding roughshod over my experience or autonomy.

This is such a great description of so many possible variations of dissociation... I totally agree that dissociation doesn't need to look obvious, and often it is just subtle, especially if it's chronic.... It has become your normal... ✨

✨🧠 Where you look affects how you feel 🔍

A Brainspot is more than an eye position—it’s a
doorway. A precise point in your visual field that connects to buried emotion, memory, and sensation. It’s where your nervous system flinches, where your story lives beneath the surface.

Brainspotting doesn’t force the mind—it follows the body’s wisdom. It’s gentle. Deep. Somatic. It meets you where you are and helps you move through what’s been held too long.🧘‍♀️

This is trauma therapy that honours your pace. That trusts your brain’s ability to heal when given the right space.🍃

Thought I might not be the only one in need of a moment of calm right now.... As we are approaching the winter solstice we should aim to slow down, pause, get comfy, light some candles, snuggle up, read a good book...
But instead life gets extra busy with the build up to Christmas... And there isn't really an escape, even if it's the last thing you want to celebrate. For many people this time of the year is extremely hard. While others get excited and are busy planning a warm and heartfelt celebration with their loved ones, many people struggle with the expectations of happiness and the reality of their families. Maybe there is grief over lost loved ones, caring for ill family members or friends, grief over what should have been and what is, dealing with loneliness, or the terror of living in a toxic and abusive relationship or family...

So for those who need a little escape, sit down at the edge of this tiny waterfall in the midst of a beautiful autumn forest... The sun is spreading her warmth through the few colourful leaves. It smells of earth and wood. Birds are singing...
A moment of calm for you to carry with you✨
Enjoy🙏

That's why it's so important that a therapist has done their own healing work and not just knowing things from their textbooks... If I want to be a sensitive and stable companion I need to understand my own story, wounds and triggers, and ideally have done some processing work on my healing journey. The experience of facing your wounds and knowing that even the hardest aspects of your story can be processed, that you can get through, and that bit by bit life will change, is a very powerful message... ✨

The therapist is the most common – and often the most helpful – 'companion' on the recovery journey. They need to have the resilience to see and hear things that most people will never see and hear: no easy ask.

When feelings feel too strong to sit with, it doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means your system needs structure.

Try this:
1️⃣ Imagine placing the feeling in a small, safe container — a jar, a box, a pocket in your journal.
2️⃣ Tell it, “I’ll come back to you later.”
3️⃣ Take three slow breaths.

This isn’t repression — it’s pacing.

Feeling safely takes time, and that’s exactly what "Safe Enough to Feel" was made for.
