Meet Gaynor. She’s having a fantastic journey. So far she’s never had a gain and proving to herself that you don’t have to deprive yourself when following Slimming World’s plan as there are plenty of treats you can still enjoy if you count them! 😋
“After gaining weight due to mobility problems, comfort eating, and finally having hip surgery, my Slimming World journey began on Thursday 10 April 2025. After chatting with Kelly on the phone about her group at Brownsover Church, I took my first huge step towards a slimmer, healthier me.
I must admit that I was very nervous that first day, but now when I look back, I laugh at myself. I couldn’t have wished to meet a nicer, more supportive group of people. We all have the same goal and they have become my ‘Slimming Family’.
I was really shocked when I learnt what I could actually eat every day and have 15 syns as well. I can honestly say I have never felt hungry and do not miss all the things that I have now cut out of my diet. Instead of going for the sweets, cakes or the biscuit tin, I make sure that I have lots of fresh fruit and veg in the house, that I can eat to my hearts content. I do not eat much bread, but I do have it very occasionally as a syn and as part of a proper meal. I can still enjoy meals out with family and friends by being selective and choosing a more healthy option so I never feel deprived or that I am missing out.
Since starting this journey I have lost 1 stone and 9 pounds by loosing on average 1.5 pounds every week. I have had two weeks where I have maintained but no gains so far. Ideally, I would like to try for another stone or thereabouts before I stop losing and start maintaining my weight.
I have never been skinny, but I have been a lot slimmer than I am today. I don’t want to get back to my slimmest version of me as that was 30 years ago, so pretty unrealistic, but I would like to be slimmer and healthier so that I can enjoy my retirement years to the full. I know that with the support of Kelly and my ‘Slimming Family’ I can do this.”
Gaynor is a valuable member of the Brownsover Slimming World family. She’s gaining confidence and sparkle as she’s shedding the pounds and it’s a delight to watch and support her.
