As a Practice, Sandy Lane Surgery is aware that some patients need extra support when communicating with us.

When patients register with Sandy Lane Surgery, we ask whether there are any requirements, such as the need for an interpreter; a Sign Language interpreter; a requirement to receive information in a particular format; additional time during a phone call etc.

We place an alert message onto medical records to alert staff to any requirements, even if this is for staff to speak more slowly, or to allow extra time for a patient to answer the phone if they have difficulties in mobilising.

If you have any communication needs that you would like to share with us, please inform any member of our Team, or send us an email to sandylanesurgery@staffs.nhs.uk

We will ensure that all staff know to take your needs into consideration when you contact the Practice.

******World Hepatitis Day - 28th July 2025******

Follow the link to the Hep C U Later webpage and for details on how to access a home testing kit.

What is hepatitis C?
Hepatitis C is a virus that can affect the liver.

Hepatitis C is transmitted when blood that is infected with hepatitis C enters another person’s bloodstream.

Having a hepatitis C infection can result in inflammation and significant damage to the liver, which stops it from working properly.

If hepatitis C is left untreated it can lead to serious damage to the liver and can be life-threatening.

This is why it is important that you find out if you are at risk, and how to get tested and treated.

Please find a link to the to the ICB’s new vodcast – ‘What’s the Deal with Vaccines: Young Voices, Expert Answers.
