This week we held our 412th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 277th Virtual MNR. And it was great to see Kate back doing a virtual (with Marie), as well as Jo, who did one in California's Yosemite National Park.

This week also saw Cliff and Beth take on the Saucony London 10k, with Beth getting a new PB! And 8 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, doing 6 different parkruns, with Lauren's Antrum one being the furthest afield.

If you'd like to join a group MNR (6.45pm meet at first gate into Lido on Reservoir Road, for 7pm start) or Virtual MNR, please register here: https://groups.runtogether.co.uk/DashForFitness

Very many congratulations to my client Jaswinder.

After many months of dedicated training, and despite the extreme heat and 1340m of elevation, she completed the 100k Race to the Stones Ultra on Saturday/Sunday (50k per day) in 17hrs 28mins (8:25 on day 1, and 9:03 on day 2), finishing 2nd in her age category!

If you’d also like to work towards achieving a running goal by getting fitter, or running faster and/or further (anything from 100m to a 50k+ Ultra), then please get in touch to book a professional 1-1 training session/programme with a UK Athletics Running Coach (me)!

This week we held our 411th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 276th Virtual MNR.

This followed a busy weekend of achievements, with Karin completing a Dublin Half Marathon, Rohit overcoming the Chiltern Ridge Half Marathon (complete with c525m of elevation), and Dawn being FIRST female at the Farfalle (Italy) Parkrun.

Talking of Parkruns, 8 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did them. Jane R and Ken joined Dawn at Farfalle, Hannah ventured out to Lanhydrock, whilst keeping it local were Beth, Judith, Shama, and Lauren (who earlier in the week celebrated her birthday and belated receipt of an Escape from Lockdown medal).

This week we held our 410th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 274th Virtual MNR.

Despite the heat, there was also plenty of running over the weekend, with Claire, Dawn, Ken, Lucy, Rob, and Teresa doing the hilly Triffic Trail 10k, Simon being somewhere in the midlands doing an also hilly 10k, whilst 3 resilient Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did Parkruns. Very well done to Hannah, Jane, and Meena.

This week we held our 409th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 273rd Virtual MNR. And it was great to see 4 Betsons at the MNR, a number only previously bettered by 5 Buckinghams!

Debbie was also there, and brought her hard-earned medal from the extremely challenging but picturesque Cliveden 10k. She was far from the only Dasher for which congratulations for that were in order, as Arunima, Claire, Dawn, Hannah, Iain, Ken, and Lucy also overcame the torturous stairs and hills.

Talking about medals, I was able to present Escape from Lockdown ones to some of those that were unable to attend last week’s celebrations. Congratulations to: Debbie (again), Fiona, Jay, Ken (again), and Simon. Finally, 8 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did Parkruns, And I’ve just spotted that Sue N did her 200th Parkrun last month, so belated congratulations to her.

This week we held our 408th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 272nd Virtual MNR.

At the end of the group MNR, I was able to present medals to the participants of the Escape from Lockdown challenge. To escape they needed to complete a virtual circumnavigation of the England – using the King Charles III Coast Path and the borders with Scotland and Wales, within a maximum of 99 days (the length of the first COVID lockdown). As it turned out, they completed THREE circumnavigations (in just 79 days), doing an average of 350km each. So, if doing kms is ever a condition for getting out of a pandemic lockdown, who you going to call: “Coast Busters”!!!

Talking of achievements, Cliff completed his 300th Parkrun on Saturday, and Marie completed her 100th. In total, 11 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did Parkruns, with 5 of them at Canons Park. Hannah was the furthest afield at Cheltenham, and she celebrated a double by also doing the Cheltenham Festival 10k.

This week we held our 407th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 270th Virtual MNR. And it was great to see Jill back doing a VMNR,

The weekend saw 11 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash For Fitness, doing Parkruns, with 6 of them at Harrow. In addition, Shama did her 250th volunteering parkrun (and Hannah MC her 50th). Lauren was the furthest afield at Harcourt Hill (Oxford).

Preeti did the Dorney Lake 10k, as part of a 17k HM training run. And, on the subject of events, Iain, Lara, Paul, and Rohit did the St Albans Sixer - Backyard Ultra (c4miles per hour, on the hour, every hour until the last person quits) with the entry fee including 6 drink tokens, that could be used anytime from start to finish of the event.

Last weekend, I completed the Jurassic Coast 76k Ultra (34k more than a marathon), which included 1800m of elevation (that’s like climbing Ben Nevis 1.5 times).

As well as that being the longest Ultra I’ve ever done (58k was my previous best), I achieved my goal of doing it in daylight (started at 9.30am and finished at 9,10pm), and I surprised myself by being a top 10 finisher.

The most amazing thing is that this was 20 days after the massive disappointment of limping out of the London Marathon after 13k (caused by insufficient stretching in the months beforehand, and specifically when on holiday)

My recovery was all thanks to the professional healing powers of Warrick at Physioworks and Pilates with Suzy (plus it, of course, a good base level of strength, fitness, and stamina from my own Dash for Fitness training plan 😇).

This week we held our 406th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 269th Virtual MNR. And it was great to see Pushpa with her foot out of plaster and doing a lap of the Lido.

The weekend saw 8 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, doing Parkruns, across a record 7 different venues, with Beth’s visit to Greater Denham in Bedfordshire being the furthest afield. More significantly, Beth got a new Parkrun PB, came first in her age group, and 8th overall by age grade% (to add to the Triathlon PB she got the week before!).

Meanwhile, the Escape from Lockdowners have now done >10 MILLION metres (in 55 days), completed their 2nd virtual circumnavigation of the perimeter of England (using the King Charles III coastal path, and borders with Scotland/Wales) and have just one more to do to escape (by no later than June 29th).

This week we held our 405th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 268th Virtual MNR. On a gloriously sunny night, it was great to see Maria and Teresa for the first time in a while.

The weekend saw Preeti finishing the Hampton Court 10k, Beth completing the Hatch End Harrow Triathlon, and 11 Dashers doing Parkruns. Lauren’s visit to Higginson was the furthest afield, whilst Harrow (on its 10th birthday) upped its number of registered Dashers to 5, with Ken added to last week’s list of attendees.

Meanwhile, last week, the Escape from Lockdown participants travelled 1360km down the East coast of the King Charles III path from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Felixstowe and, as of last Friday, had just under 400k to do before completing their 2nd virtual circumnavigation of England.

Due to the Bank Holiday, there was no Monday Night group Run this week. We did hold our 267th Virtual MNR, with participation including runs/walks around the Lido, trail runs, holiday walks, mother and baby walks, a triathlon (congratulations Karin), and a half marathon by Beth and Cliff with the former getting a PB 🥳).

There was also lots of tunning done on Saturday, with Paul M completing an unbelievable 90 miles along the Thames Path! Meanwhile 10 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash For Fitness, completed Parkruns. Harrow was this week’s most popular venue for Dashers, with Beth, Jane, Judith and Karin taking part.

Meanwhile, after leaving Bristol, the Escape from Lockdown participants traversed the Welsh border, continued along the North-West coast of the King Charles III path, then along the Scottish border to Berwick-upon-Tweed. They've now done 3,054k of their SECOND 4,798km virtual circumnavigation of England.

Very many congratulations to my client, Sam.

Despite the heat, he completed the London Marathon on Sunday and achieved a Personal Best time. That completes his collection of PBs, having previously got ones at 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon since starting his training me in November.

If you’d like to work towards achieving a running goal by getting fitter, or running faster and/or further (anything from 5k to a 50k+ Ultra), then please get in touch to book a professional 1-1 training session/programme with a UK Athletics Running Coach (me)!
