Last night we held out first FREE, and open to all, group Monday Night Run (MNR) following the August break. It was our 415th overall, and it was great to welcome newbie Nadiah and returnee Smruti. We also held our 285th virtual MNR, and had a social to mark the end of MNRs at the LIdo - we'll be in Broadwood next week, meeting by the KIngs College Cafe car park for a 6.30 start.

Last week also saw 6 Dashers participating in Parkrun events with Hannah getting a Rickmansworth Parkrun PB and her 4th fastest 5k ever, whilst Dawn and Ken took on and completed the Big Half. We also announced a spooky Halloween 666 challenge for October - where we collectively need to do 6.66 million steps!

At the social we held a quiz all about Ruislip Lido, as well as a challenge involving sorting into the correct order, the below jumbled up set of pictures of things you can see as you go around the LIdo clockwise (starting at the first gate in on Reservoir Road). Since our last post, our August break from Dash for Fitness group Monday Night Runs (MNRs) has come to an end, and we held our 283rd and 284th Virtual MNR (can be done anywhere in the world between 5pm Sunday and 11am Tuesday).

And, in addition to those participating in Parkrun events, Dawn, Ken, Maria, and Preeti completed the Asics LDNX 10k🥳, whilst Suzy T walked the 109 mile Cleveland Way, racking up c4,400m of elevation (more than climbing Ben Nevis THREE times!!!)💪

The other big happening was that all the teams of four that participated in our Fitnesships medal challenge completed enough of the right activities (or in some cases all 64 activities) to find the 5 fitness related words hidden in the 8x8 grid of fitness activities👏

The group MNR will restart on Monday (8th Sep), and here are 10 reasons why you should attend:
* It's FREE
* It's open to everyone
* It's the first after the August break
* It's the last of the year at the Lido
* We'll be trialling a 6.30pm start (meet from 6.15pm)
* You can walk, run, or run/walk
* It's motivational and fun to run/walk together

This week was the third of our August break from FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Runs. There were still 10 of us at the Lido doing an informal one, whilst taking part in our 282nd Virtual MNR, which continues throughout the Summer.

Also continuing is our Fitnesships challenge, where the Dash Glow Getters are now just one activity (the marathon relay) away from completing all 64! Whilst the other 3 teams are working their way through activities ranging from ball sports to aqua aerobics to become the 2nd team to “hit” all 16 letters of the 5 fitness related words (they currently have 13, 12, and 9).

Other Dashing activity this week included Claire, Dawn, Hannah, Iain, Ken, and Lucy completing in races at Burnham Beeches (10ks and Half Marathons). Whilst 6 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did 4 different parkruns, with Jane R and Lauren joining me at Northala Fields, and Karin being furthest afield at Eastbourne. I also know that Hannah and Maria volunteered at Rickmansworth, and Ken did so at Harrow.

This week was the second of our August break from FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Runs. There were still 8 of us at the Lido doing an informal one, whilst taking part in our 281st Virtual MNR, which continues throughout the Summer.

Also continuing is our Fitnesships challenge, where the Dash Glow Getter became the first to “hit” all 16 letters of the 5 fitness related words, qualifying themselves for special medals. Even more incredibly, just 11 days into it, the community of Dashers taking part in the challenge have collectively completed all 64 activities, with the Ultra 50k and 32.2k Relays being concluded last night (turning MNR into Monday Night Relays)

Other Dashing activity this week included Suzy T completing the Newbury Racecourse 5k, and coming 3rd in her Age Group. Whilst 10 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did 6 different parkruns, with Beth’s Whitby visit which was the furthest afield, saw her come 3rd in her Age Group. Hannah went one better by coming 2nd in her Age Group at Northala Fields (something’s put a spring in her step)

This week was the first of our August break from FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Runs but 10 people still joined me at the Lido for an informal one! They, along with everyone else who registered for and did a run or walk between 5pm Sunday and 11am Tuesday, took part in our 280th Virtual MNR - adding to their total of MNRs done.

During August, the focus is on our Fitnesships challenge, where 4 teams are trying to be first to locate the 16 letters, making up 5 fitness related words, that are hidden in an 8x8 grid (shown). A team can discover a cell’s contents by completing the activity shown. The winning team get special medals, and the others can get medals by working together to complete all 64 activities (as of last night, 42 had already been completed)!

Other Dashing activity this week included Iain and Lucy completing the Olympic Park 10k, Whilst 9 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did 6 different parkruns, with Jane and Ken's Torbay Velopark visit being the furthest afield.

This week we held our 414th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 279th Virtual MNR. And it was great to see the returning Baptise, Debbie, Jill, and Lanesra.

We also had a "break for Summer" social (no group MNRs in August), complete with a scrambled picture quiz (an example attached, can you work out what it is?).

This week also saw Karin winning her age group at the Dorney Sprint Triathlon, and Lucy completing the Ultra X Wales 25k.

Whilst 10 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did 7 different parkruns, with Lauren's Gunpowder Park near Epping being the furthest afield.

This week we held our 412th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 277th Virtual MNR. And it was great to see Kate back doing a virtual (with Marie), as well as Jo, who did one in California's Yosemite National Park.

This week also saw Cliff and Beth take on the Saucony London 10k, with Beth getting a new PB! And 8 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, doing 6 different parkruns, with Lauren's Antrum one being the furthest afield.

Very many congratulations to my client Jaswinder.

After many months of dedicated training, and despite the extreme heat and 1340m of elevation, she completed the 100k Race to the Stones Ultra on Saturday/Sunday (50k per day) in 17hrs 28mins (8:25 on day 1, and 9:03 on day 2), finishing 2nd in her age category!

This week we held our 411th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 276th Virtual MNR.

This followed a busy weekend of achievements, with Karin completing a Dublin Half Marathon, Rohit overcoming the Chiltern Ridge Half Marathon (complete with c525m of elevation), and Dawn being FIRST female at the Farfalle (Italy) Parkrun.

Talking of Parkruns, 8 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did them. Jane R and Ken joined Dawn at Farfalle, Hannah ventured out to Lanhydrock, whilst keeping it local were Beth, Judith, Shama, and Lauren (who earlier in the week celebrated her birthday and belated receipt of an Escape from Lockdown medal).

This week we held our 410th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 274th Virtual MNR.

Despite the heat, there was also plenty of running over the weekend, with Claire, Dawn, Ken, Lucy, Rob, and Teresa doing the hilly Triffic Trail 10k, Simon being somewhere in the midlands doing an also hilly 10k, whilst 3 resilient Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did Parkruns. Very well done to Hannah, Jane, and Meena.

This week we held our 409th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 273rd Virtual MNR. And it was great to see 4 Betsons at the MNR, a number only previously bettered by 5 Buckinghams!

Debbie was also there, and brought her hard-earned medal from the extremely challenging but picturesque Cliveden 10k. She was far from the only Dasher for which congratulations for that were in order, as Arunima, Claire, Dawn, Hannah, Iain, Ken, and Lucy also overcame the torturous stairs and hills.

Talking about medals, I was able to present Escape from Lockdown ones to some of those that were unable to attend last week’s celebrations. Congratulations to: Debbie (again), Fiona, Jay, Ken (again), and Simon. Finally, 8 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did Parkruns, And I’ve just spotted that Sue N did her 200th Parkrun last month, so belated congratulations to her.

This week we held our 408th "open to all” and FREE Dash for Fitness Monday Night group Run, and our 272nd Virtual MNR.

At the end of the group MNR, I was able to present medals to the participants of the Escape from Lockdown challenge. To escape they needed to complete a virtual circumnavigation of the England – using the King Charles III Coast Path and the borders with Scotland and Wales, within a maximum of 99 days (the length of the first COVID lockdown). As it turned out, they completed THREE circumnavigations (in just 79 days), doing an average of 350km each. So, if doing kms is ever a condition for getting out of a pandemic lockdown, who you going to call: “Coast Busters”!!!

Talking of achievements, Cliff completed his 300th Parkrun on Saturday, and Marie completed her 100th. In total, 11 Dashers, with their club registered as Dash for Fitness, did Parkruns, with 5 of them at Canons Park. Hannah was the furthest afield at Cheltenham, and she celebrated a double by also doing the Cheltenham Festival 10k.
