That’s a wrap! 🎬
We have just completed filming with the brilliant Hannah from
who understood the brief perfectly: to distil into a powerful short film the very essence of Waves Music Therapy.
At the centre of this film is a remarkable story, a client’s journey from isolation to thriving, capturing the transformative, positive impact of music therapy. This film will help us show the power of music to connect, to empower, and to transform lives.
Our very special thanks to for fully funding this film πŸ™
We can't wait to share it! πŸ“½

Last year, BBC Children in Need supported over 600,000 children and young people and funded more than 2,000 charities across the UK.
The process to secure this support is highly competitive, with multiple stages and interviews and only a small proportion of applicants successful.
We are thrilled to share that, after years of working towards this, Waves has been granted three years of funding from . Huge credit to the Waves team for the brilliant application and tough interview.
This timely funding comes as our charity continues rapid growth and will directly enable us to support more people. Our mission is simple; to make our meaningful, accessible, evidence-based and effective therapy equitable for all.

We πŸ’™ welcoming visitors to our Waves studio and had a very special extra pair of paws today when welcoming Chris and his guide dog Kenny! 🐾

Chris is an accomplished jazz drummer who has very generously donated this fantastic Pearl kit to Waves on behalf of his good friend, Ian.

Kenny is an accomplished guidedog who has just retired after working with Chris for over 10 years. Kenny says he now likes to spend his days running, sniffing and listening to jazz drumming.

Your incredible donation will be loved by our Waves musicians for years to come. Thank you πŸ«‚ πŸ™

+ !
Today we launched an exciting year-long collaboration between NESCOT and Waves.
Students from NESCOT’s Online Content Creation and Filmmaking courses will be working with us across the full academic year to create six short films exploring and amplifying Waves Music Therapy; our mission, our ethos and our work.
It was an absolute pleasure to present to the students today and exciting to hear youth voices engaging with how they can help share and promote the impact of music therapy.
We look forward to offering experiences and mentorships and most importantly learning from the students and hearing their voices and their stories that will emerge through this partnership!
Our huge thanks to our trustee Matthew Lonsdale, for initiating and overseeing the project with our CEO Vicky, and curriculum manager Abigail Partington- Moran and principle Julie Kapsalis for inviting Waves to be part of something so exciting and beneficial for our growing charity.

We absolutely love this beautiful moment between and one of our musicians at Oak Grove πŸ’™ Mike leads our immersive music sessions at and Palatine school, as well as group sessions for Mencap through Waves. The feedback is always incredible and we think this photo says it all. 🎢
A big thank you to Philip, our work experience student from St Andrews School Worthing, who captured this special moment while spending a week behind the scenes with us. πŸ‘ πŸ“·

I have the pleasure of spending today interviewing music therapists for a new post at Waves Music Therapy. Looking forward to welcoming new members to our team.

At Waves, we want our therapists to feel part of something bigger; a supportive and ambitious charity where they can develop their own practice while contributing to a shared mission: to make music therapy accessible to all, and to make Waves! We offer a strong professional community, regular supervision, opportunities for collaboration across projects, and the chance to be part of a female-led organisation recognised nationally through our BBC film, workshops at Downing Street, collaborations with universities and colleges, and really exciting festivals, events and fundraisers.

We are glad at Waves to be able to offer new posts, support new clients and continue to grow each year. My thanks to British Association of Music Therapy for listening and making changes so charities like ours can advertise to our colleagues without cost, spreading opportunities across the profession.

Waves have just finished another 3-day residency at Victorious Festival 🌊🎢 Huge thanks to our trustee Emma, curator at The Spoken Arts Parlour, and to our artists + for leading brilliant workshops. We met so many incredible people and shared some really special moments in songwriting and freestyle rap.

The opportunity to be backstage this year led to us chatting casually to the utterly wonderful Josh Homme from , who gave Eve’s hat some serious love, and watching the Kaiser Chiefs from side stage- seeing what they see with 40,000+ faces lit up and looking back at them- unforgettable.

Great to reconnect with with more Rapper in Residence collaboration coming up this year. Celebrated our patron at The Piano Tree, and a chance meeting with Phil, music therapist and percussionist from East Anglia, meant he joined the Waves crew for the weekend.πŸ™πŸ’™

Most importantly, the festival gave us space to meet families, run live workshops, and share what music therapy can mean for mental health and well-being. πŸ’™

Massive thanks to Cat Paw Images for allowing us to use your incredible images πŸ“Έ
We raised a huge £1300 which will go directly to supporting children, young people and vulnerable adults mental health and wellbeing through music. 🌟
