Unfortunately, life is not only smiles. When Nik tagged me to join the movember squad in memory of Darren I could not refuse. Su***de is one of the leading causes of death and 3/4 are men! Nearly a 1000 more men sadly take their own lives than die in car crashes each year. One of the biggest challenges we have is not knowing what to say, so we don't ask and people continue to struggle. If you're reading this and are struggling YOUR NOT ALONE! And please click one of the links below!! Or send me a message, please.
Everyone else be brave and ask how your friends are, it doesn't matter if you don't know what to say if they tell you they're having a s**t time and really struggling, let's face it we're not all trained therapists, at least you have started a conversation and can encourage them to get support!! We have lost far too many good men. Here are some helpful numbers and info and a couple of tips from a friend, who knows what their talking about from personal experience. He said talking and belonging to something was the most helpful and to bear in mind "if you unwell you get help from the doc and metal health should be seen in the same way!"
Let them talk, go for a walk or maybe train together (NOT THE PUB!)."even in silence beside the person is amazing"
You could ask questions like "what's going on? , what are you thinking? , what will you do next? How can I support you? What can we do together? How would you feel better?
And direct them to a professional. And follow up - ask if they have got support and check up on them.

As many of you are aware, looking after yourself physically can have a really positive impact on your mental health, at least give you a time out, a focus and a sense of achievement. I am by no means a trained therapist, but I can help by offering you or a friend who needs support, exactly that. if you can't afford personal training don't worry - message me anyway!
