✨ Women, business and exporting — the bit we don’t always say out loud ✨

Recently, our Managing Director, Rhian, was filmed talking about exporting — and one question really stood out:

“Why do fewer women-led businesses export compared to men?”

Rhian was honest in her answer.

Even after years of exporting, it can still feel daunting.
New markets, new rules, new ways of working — there’s always a lot to learn.

At one point she joked:

“Who trusted me with a passport AND a business?”
(Fortunately, her wife keeps the passport safe — just in case! 😅)

But beneath the humour was something important.

When asked why fewer women export, the word that came to Rhian’s mind was:

👉 Confidence.

Not ability.
Not ambition.
Just confidence.

For many women in business, it’s things like:

• wanting to get everything right
• worrying about making mistakes
• balancing work alongside everything else life brings

Over time, taking exporting one country at a time has opened doors for Workplace-Worksafe that we may never have reached otherwise — and the journey has been worth it.

This one’s close to my heart 💙

💬 Real stories. Real change. Inclusive recruitment in action.

This event means a lot to me. Inclusive recruitment isn’t just something I support — it’s something I deeply believe in. Giving people with disabilities, health conditions, or who are neurodivergent fair and open opportunities isn’t just the right thing to do — it makes businesses stronger, more creative, and more human.

I was actually invited to speak at this event this year, but my diary was so full I couldn’t give it the time and care it deserved — and honestly, it broke my heart to let them down. That’s how much I care about this work and the people driving it.

So while I might not be up there speaking, I’ll absolutely be cheering it on.
If you run a business or lead a team, I really recommend going along — it’s such an inspiring event that shares real experiences from real employers who’ve made recruitment more inclusive.

📢 Bank Holiday Update

After 20 years of August Bank Holidays, this will be the first time we’ll be closed on the Saturday morning.

I’ve always given our team this break, with Bec and I covering so they could enjoy the long weekend. After some pretty tough personal months, I realised I need to follow my own rule this year too – and take some time to relax and decompress.

Thank you to all our lovely customers for your understanding. We’ll be back on Tuesday at 8am, refreshed and ready for the back-to-work / school rush!

This month in our 20-year celebration posts…

Behind every milestone, there’s a team who made it happen. 💛

From Saturday morning students – teenagers starting their very first job and covering the trade counter – to those who joined us right at the beginning, those who stayed, those who left (and came back!), and everyone in between – you’ve all played a part in creating the Workplace-Worksafe we know today. We simply wouldn’t be here without you.

A massive thank you too, to our amazing team right now – you’ve not only kept everything running like clockwork, but you’ve lifted me and each other through the toughest 8 weeks of my life as we said an unexpected goodbye to my darling mum, who lost her battle with cancer a month ago.

Mum worked in the company not long after I set it up – and she was the strictest accounts lady anyone has ever met! She wouldn’t let me spend a penny without proof and would chase me round the office for missing receipts. But she was also our biggest cheerleader, and even after she left, she’d often pop in to see the team, share advice, or roll up her sleeves to help me in the embroidery or printing room on a Saturday morning – usually bribed with cake and tea!

This is one of my favourite work photos (with many more to come over the next few months) – Mum in her chair with Millie, one of our office dogs at the time, on her lap. It sums up what this place has always been about – heart, family, and the brilliant people who’ve made it what it is. ❤️🐾

And to all the brilliant people yet to join our story in the next 20 years – we can’t wait to see where we go together.

Here’s to every single one of you who has made this journey possible – past, present, and future. We’re only here because of you.

🛠️ 20 Years of Workplace Worksafe — It All Started With This.

Before the logos, the team, the customers, the innovations — there was just a warehouse, a saw, and a dream.

We didn’t inherit a big office or a ready-made business. We built it from scratch — plank by plank, box by box — with a lot of hard work and a lot of help from family and friends.

From high-vis jackets stacked on bare shelves — or sometimes just boxes on the floor because we couldn’t afford shelves — to becoming a trusted name in workwear and safety across Wales and beyond.

But we didn’t do it alone.

Over the last 20 years, we’ve been lucky to work with some brilliant people — team members who put in the graft, customers who had never heard of us but took a chance on a Welsh woman who promised we would supply what they needed, within budget and on time, and suppliers who backed us.

Our track record has proved we are now one of the most trusted suppliers of PPE and branded workwear, used by customers all over the UK and Europe.

And, of course, the friends who cheered us on from the sidelines.
This milestone belongs to all of you too. 🧡

20 Years of Workplace Worksafe — Celebrating our 20th anniversary

This year marks 20 years since Workplace Worksafe first opened its doors. It started with a simple idea — helping teams stay safe, smart, and ready for work — and a lot of hard work (and tea!).

We’ve grown, evolved, and (let’s be honest) had a few how did we get here?! moments along the way. But one thing has stayed the same: the heart of what we do.

To celebrate, we’ll be sharing one special post each month — a glimpse into our journey so far. From the very first orders to the milestones we never saw coming, we can’t wait to take you with us.
