Thank you for the invite to Well Street Pharmacy, Ruthin to meet local pharmacists and Community Pharmacy Wales. Community pharmacies are the first port of call for our health service, especially in more rural areas, usually being closer to home than a hospital or GP. We discussed recent investment at Well St Pharmacy which allowed it to expand its services, but also some of the challenges facing pharmacies locally and across the UK.

We are now taking bookings for our flu vaccination clinics on:
-Thursday 2nd October 2025
-Friday October 3rd 2025
-Monday October 6th 2025

You may be entitled to a free NHS flu vaccination if you fall into one of the eligible groups, including:
-Adults aged 65 and over
-Pregnant women
-Primary and some secondary school children (through school programmes)
-Frontline health and social care workers
-Carers and those living with someone with a weakened immune system

Clinical risk groups also include people with:
*Chronic respiratory disease (e.g. asthma requiring regular inhaled steroids, COPD)
*Chronic heart disease and vascular disease
*Chronic kidney disease (stage 3, 4 or 5)
*Chronic liver disease
*Chronic neurological disease (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease)
*Learning disability
*Diabetes or adrenal insufficiency
*Epilepsy
*Immunosuppression due to disease (e.g. HIV/AIDS) or treatment (e.g. cancer treatment), and household contacts of at-risk individuals**
*Asplenia or dysfunction of the spleen
*Morbid obesity (BMI of 40 or above, aged 16+)
