As a women's health physio there are a few common mistakes I see women making when doing their pelvic floor exercises.

Holding their breath (definitely the most common 🫣)

Squeezing their bum and other leg muscles

Sucking absolutely everything in and holding their breath.

Little tweaks to these mistakes can make your exercises so much more effective!!

🎉10 years ago this little legend arrived!!

The boy who made me a mum and started me on my journey into women's health physio 😍

He was not an ideal delivery - but forceps and a 3rd degree tear later he was here.

Motherhood is a crazy ride, but it opened my eyes when in that world to how much us mums put up with - and what absolute superstars we are!!

Mum's talked about a bit of leaking when coughing or sneezing...wearing a pad everytime they left the house...And we just get on with it all. Many didn't even know physio was an option.

A mummy mot later (hello troublesome stitches) and I was hooked - I knew it was something I wanted to do!

So in a weird way...thanks Fionn 🤣 😘

👋Hi C Section mum's and mums to be!!!

April is C Section awareness month.

Just take a look at the many, many layers that are cut through to get our beautiful babies out ( our abdominal muscles are not cut they are pulled apart). It's no wonder we might feel a bit battered and bruised 🫣

So be kind to yourself and give yourself time to recover. In those early days prioritise 👇

🔸Focusing on good nutrition and hydration

🔸Diaphragmatic breathing

🔸Short walks and gentle mobility exercises

🔸From about 6 weeks ( once fully healed ) start some gentle scar massage

C Section scars are something I love treating in clinic (thanks to training with the awesome Hannah Poulton | Leading C-Section and Scar Specialist ) so let me know if I can help.

6 week GP check ✔️ done!!

But at your Mummy MOT (post natal check) we like to dive deeper

🔶 How is your posture?

🔶 Are you having any pelvic floor symptoms? Any pain, incontinence, trouble with stitches? How's the strength? Is it ready for impact or need some time and exercise?

🔶 How is your general strength and mobility? Are there areas that need some focus before you start back running for example?

🔶 Have you any tummy gap that needs rehab?

🔶 If you had a C-section, how is the scar?

And lots lots more.

I want to make sure you have the best and smoothest post natal recovery! And that you get back to what you love doing and feel strong doing it!

You book online or drop me a message x

Ps..can we take a moment for how sunny lock down was, and my tiny baby 🥰

🔸Not recently having had a wax.

Endometriosis - much much more then just 'bad periods'.

We know that it affects at least 1 in 10 women in the uk with an average wait of about 9 years for a diagnosis 🤯 (but that's a rant for another day ....maybe😉)

Women's health physios are a great part of your toolbox to manage symptoms.

🔸Pelvic pain
🔸Bladder and bowel dysfunction
🔸Painful s*x
🔸Fatique
🔸Muscle tension
🔸Chronic pain

Did you know physio could help?? 🤔
