You wake up feeling like you haven’t really slept

You went to bed exhausted
Eventually drifted off

But it doesn’t feel like rest

Because your system hasn’t switched off

When pressure builds over time, your brain keeps running

Even when you’re asleep

Replaying
Processing
Trying to stay one step ahead

So nothing actually gets cleared

You start the next day

Still carrying yesterday

And that’s why you feel exhausted before the day has even begun

Chronic stress will keep you running on empty.

But understanding what you are looking at is half the battle.

You know something needs to change.

You can feel it.

But the moment you think about actually saying no, the guilt floods in. A voice tells you that you are being selfish, difficult, ungrateful. So you say yes again and quietly pay the price yourself.

Most of us learnt early that being good means being accommodating, that keeping the peace matters more than speaking your truth, that having needs makes you difficult. That conditioning does not stay in childhood.

It shows up every time you say yes when everything in you is saying no, every time you smile through something that is costing you, every time you tell yourself it is fine when it really is not.

Some people never move past that.

Others overcorrect entirely, build walls instead of boundaries, become the one nobody questions because nobody dares, and find themselves wondering why everything still feels so exhausting and disconnected.

Neither is a boundary.

One is collapse, the other is armour, and both cost you more than they protect you.

The guilt you feel when you think about setting a boundary is not a sign you are doing something wrong. It is a sign you are challenging something very old.

And the people who push back the hardest when you finally do set one are usually the ones who benefited most from you never setting any.

Setting a boundary is not betrayal. It never was.

Something has shifted and you can't quite put your finger on what.

You're snapping at people you don't mean to snap at. Misreading situations.

Finding that things you used to take in your stride now feel like too much.

The person who had it together is still there somewhere, but finding them is getting harder.

This is not a personality change. It is your filtering system running out of road.

Every waking moment your subconscious is sorting through everything your senses absorb, deciding what to keep, what to generalise and what to discard.

That works perfectly until the demands on you at work, at home, from other people, and from yourself start consistently outrunning your capacity to meet them.

When that happens the filters get glitchy.
Generalisations spread.
Things get misread.
And because your subconscious now believes you are under threat, it stops prioritising logic.

Why not take an hour and watch the Midweek Reset series?

Part 1 will show you exactly what has been stacking up and quietly taking your capacity to be at your best.

It might not be what you think has been going on....

And then Part 2, the hypnotherapy session, will help you start to reset it.

There’s a quiet pressure around this time of year to feel better.

More motivated. More energised. Ready to get on with things.

But if you’re already running close to empty, that pressure just adds more on top.

Most anxiety and overwhelm doesn’t come out of nowhere.

It builds when demand keeps exceeding capacity.

So instead of trying to reset everything, try this:

What would make this 5% easier right now?

Not a big change. Just something that takes the edge off.

- doing a little less
- slowing things down slightly
- stepping back before it all tips over

Those small shifts stop things from building up further.

That’s what this month’s newsletter focuses on: practical ways to spot what’s building and adjust earlier.

Stress isn't the problem.
Stress is simply demand, and demand is neutral. Without it nothing would happen. The problem is what happens when the demand keeps coming and your capacity to handle it quietly runs out. That is when the same life that felt manageable on Monday starts to feel like too much by Friday.
Nothing about the situation has changed. You have.
That is what Part 1 of the Midweek Reset Series is about. Not stress management. Not breathing exercises. Just a clear explanation of what is actually happening and why it matters. Part 2 helps you do something about it.

Your stomach tightens. Your head starts running through possibilities.

Something doesn’t feel right… but you can’t quite tell why.

Is that intuition?

Or is it anxiety?

A lot of people struggle to tell the difference, especially if they’ve been under pressure for a long time.

Because the two can feel very similar.

One way to start making sense of it is to notice what happens next.

Anxiety tends to build.
One thought leads to another, and another, until everything starts to feel overwhelming.

Intuition doesn’t usually do that.
It’s more of a quiet sense that something is off, without needing to keep expanding.

Anxiety often pulls you into the future — all the “what ifs.”

Intuition tends to relate to what’s happening in the moment.

The difficulty is that when your system is already under strain, those signals can get mixed together.

So it’s not always about trying to “trust your gut.”

It’s about understanding what state your system is in when that signal shows up.

My latest blog can help you to understand what is going on and ways to manage and work with those feelings.

When people talk about “nervous system regulation”, it can sound like everything needs to be calmed down or switched off.

As if the answer is to slow everything down… step back… or reset completely.

But that’s not really how it works.

Most people don’t have the option to just remove the demands of everyday life.

Your system is already responding to those demands all the time.

The more useful question is whether it gets the chance to reset after them.

Because stress itself isn’t the problem.

Stress is simply demand.

What matters is whether that demand is cleared… or carried over.

And that’s not about trying to shut everything down.

It’s about being a bit more strategic.

Understanding where the load is coming from, what capacity you have to deal with it, and where recovery actually happens.

That’s very different from trying to “reboot everything".

Thinking about booking an online hypnotherapy session but not sure what to expect?

If you're feeling a mixture of curiosity, hope, or if you've booked a session, maybe are thinking a bit of "What have I signed myself up for?", that's completely normal. One of the most common questions I get is "What do I need to do to prepare?"

So here's what actually matters:

Find somewhere private where you won't be interrupted.

This could be a quiet room at home with the door closed, your bedroom, a home office, or even your car parked somewhere safe and quiet. Any space where you feel comfortable closing your eyes and speaking freely. Let anyone you live with know you need uninterrupted time.

Sort your technology beforehand.

Make sure your device, internet connection, and audio are working properly. Click the session link a few minutes early to check everything's set up. If you're nervous about the tech side, we can always do a brief test call beforehand.

Have water nearby.

You might feel a bit dry-mouthed after deep relaxation, so it's helpful to have water within reach.

Wear comfortable clothes.

You'll be sitting for 60-90 minutes, so comfort matters. This isn't a formal appointment so wear whatever feels relaxed and non-restrictive.

You don't need to have it all figured out beforehand.

It's normal to wonder what you'll say or how to explain what's been happening. The conversation will unfold naturally. I'll ask questions that help you articulate what's going on, and we'll work through it together.

Know that feeling nervous is completely normal. Whether you're thinking about booking or you've already booked, feeling anxious about it is natural. Your first session is just the beginning of something, not the whole journey. Just the first step.

If you want more details about what actually happens in a session, what hypnosis feels like, what to expect during and after, and answers to common concerns, there's more in my latest blog (link below).

And if you're ready to book, get in touch for a free, no-obligation chat.

On 20th March, day and night are exactly equal. Just for a moment, before the light takes over.

That's three weeks away. Long enough to start keeping a more honest record of yourself before you get there.

Most of us are already very good at logging the difficult moments:

The spike of anxiety.
The reaction we're not proud of.
The nights sleep wouldn't come.

We notice those without trying.

What takes a little more intention is noticing the other side.

So if you're thinking about starting a journal or you already have one gathering dust, here are a few things worth adding this month:

How many times did you pause before you reacted?
How many times did you catch the anxiety early, before it had hold of you?
How many times did you notice the what-if loop and choose not to follow it down?

Those moments are happening.

They just don't tend to get written down.

By the time the equinox arrives, you might be surprised by what's in the record.

March is here, and so is my latest newsletter.
If you want to find more motivation to find more balance in your life, then let me know the best email to send it to.

Traditionally, people feel that hypnotherapy needs to happen in a particular kind of space to really work. That the environment is part of what makes it possible.

I understand that. But that is also a conscious construct of how you imagine therapy should happen.

And change doesn't happen at that level.
I work with the deeper part of your mind that is the real powerhouse: the subconscious, unconscious mind.

The subconscious doesn't need a therapy room.

What it needs is to be spoken to in the right way, and that works just as well through a screen as it does in person.

Once your eyes are closed and your attention turns inward, your location stops being relevant.

Your subconscious is already somewhere else entirely.

I've worked with clients across the UK and internationally, and what shifts in sessions is no different from in-person work.

If the online format has been the thing quietly putting you off, it might be worth knowing where that hesitation is actually coming from.

Can Hypnotherapy Help with Anxiety?

If you’ve ever lain awake at 3am with your heart racing and your mind replaying worst-case scenarios, my latest blog will make sense to you.

It explains why anxiety does not live in your thoughts alone, but in the part of the mind and body designed to keep you safe that has become overprotective.

You’ll discover why traditional thinking strategies can only take you so far, how hypnotherapy works with the subconscious where those patterns really run, and what people often notice when the alarm system stops firing all the time.

It offers a different way of understanding anxiety and what might genuinely help you shift it.
