The Orchard offers high-quality residential, nursing, and dementia care in a calm, welcoming setting.

Located in a peaceful residential area, our purpose-built home features modern interiors, landscaped gardens, and a range of comfortable spaces. As you step inside there's clean, bright, fresh spaces, and flowers everywhere. We have comfortable lounges, an activity room, hair salon and brand-new bistro full of homemade cakes and freshly brewed coffee. Explore quiet nooks with comfy armchairs, classic novels and books on the shelves. To keep the mind sharp you'll find board games, cards and puzzles. A well-stocked arts and crafts room is the perfect space to spread out and create. We have a wonderful display of photos, drawings, and art for our residents and visitors to enjoy. New residents benefit from a personalised wellbeing plan during their initial 14 days. If you're a little unsure of what type of care is needed, we're happy to help with the details.

🌟 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗲𝘁… 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘆, 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱? 🌟
This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Vicky, whose organisation, kindness and behind-the-scenes support help keep the home running smoothly every single day.

🏡 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲?
No two days are the same! I start with emails and updating our payroll system, then make sure everything is running smoothly for residents and the team. I love being the person everyone can rely on, it’s rewarding knowing my work supports the whole home.

🤝 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺?
A lot of my role is making sure everyone has what they need from sorting paperwork, helping with our payroll or HR systems, or just being a listening ear. Also, if any IT goes wrong… I’m usually the one fixing it!

🌸 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯?
How varied it is! I can be working on payroll one minute and helping plan an event or comforting a family member the next. It’s not just desk work, there’s a big human side to it, which I love.

🌟 Natalie, our Customer Relations Manager, had the pleasure of attending Business Buzz - Local Business Networking in St Albans! 🌟

It was such a fantastic opportunity to connect with local businesses, engage in great conversations, and meet so many wonderful people in the community! 🙌 We love networking and building meaningful relationships with those who share our passion for community well-being.

One of the key things I’d like to share: At Caring Homes, our doors aren’t just open for our lovely residents — they’re open to the entire community! 💙 We welcome everyone to join us for activities that promote well-being and connection. 🏡✨

We also offer knowledge-based workshops on topics like Understanding Dementia and Raising Stroke Awareness, and we’d love for you to get involved! 🌱

Community Visit at Marshalswick Community Centre

Today, our Customer Relations Manager stopped by Marshalswick Community Centre to meet with Jennifer, who runs a wonderful Alzheimer’s Society group open to the local community. 💙

We chatted about how Natalie can get involved and volunteer each week to support the amazing work they do.

And of course, we didn’t arrive empty-handed! 🤗🍪

Chef Rodney kindly baked a fresh batch of delicious cookies this morning, which were gratefully received by the group.

Yesterday, you may recall that we met with Sam and Mark from St Albans and District Foodbank, and we’re excited to support them with their Reverse Advent Calendar initiative this year. 🎄

Christmas can be a difficult time for many, with increased winter fuel costs, rising bills, and the added seasonal pressures — which can leave people facing food insecurity. 🥶🍞

For 25 days, starting Monday, 17th November, we’re inviting the public to donate an item each day from the list below. Simply drop your donations into our collection box, which will be located in our hairdressers. We’ll gather all the items and deliver them to the food bank on 12th December. 🎁

Together, we can make a big difference this holiday season! 💚✨

✨🪄 Another Successful Magic Table Session! 🪄✨

Our residents had a fantastic time during today’s Magic Table session! There were smiles, laughter, and lots of friendly competition as everyone joined in with the interactive games and activities. 🌈💫

It’s always wonderful to see how much joy and engagement the Magic Table brings — a perfect mix of fun, movement, and connection for everyone involved. ❤️

🥫💚 Supporting Our Local Foodbank! 💚🥫

We had the pleasure of welcoming Sam and Mark from the St Albans and District Foodbank into our home last week. 🙌

The St Albans & District Foodbank operates nine centres across the district, providing three-day emergency food parcels and essential hygiene items to local people in crisis. Their mission is to help individuals move beyond hardship and ultimately end the need for food banks. 🌍💪

We’re proud to be partnering with them and will be volunteering and supporting their work throughout the year, starting with their Reverse Advent Calendar initiative from 17th November. 🎄✨

Keep your eyes peeled to see what we’ll be donating each day — together, we can make a difference! 💚

🔥✨ Bonfire Night Fun in the Garden! ✨🔥

What a wonderful evening we had celebrating Bonfire Night together! Our residents wrapped up warm and gathered around the fire pit, toasting marshmallows, sipping delicious hot chocolate, and enjoying some tasty cake. 🍫☕🎂

There were plenty of smiles (and a few sticky fingers!) as everyone waved sparklers — safely held with carrots on the ends, of course! 🥕💥 What a clever and fun way to keep things safe and sparkling. ❤️🔥

High Tea at Three – Everyone’s Welcome!

We were delighted to welcome Shirley, Margaret, and their friend to join some of our lovely residents and their families for our monthly High Tea at Three. 💕

There were plenty of sweet treats to enjoy — scones with jam and cream, delicious coffee and walnut cake, lemon cake, and fruit cake — all served with a comforting cup of tea and wonderful company. 🍰🫖

Natalie our CRM had the pleasure of meeting Steve from Mix 92.6 Radio last week — a fantastic, fully volunteer-run station broadcasting 24 hours a day to an audience of over 600,000 listeners across our community. 📻

Mix 92.6 is licensed and regulated by Ofcom and does an incredible job giving a voice to local businesses, charities, and not-for-profits, featuring over 20 local people each week who share their stories, passions, and challenges. 🌟

Steve and Katie made me feel so welcome, and I’m really looking forward to returning soon — this time joined by our wonderful Resident Ambassador, Dennis, who will be sharing his experience of life at The Orchard. 🏡💬

🔤🧠 Spelling Bee & Anagram 🌿✏️

Our residents put their thinking caps on for a friendly Spelling Bee and Anagram Challenge — and what a brilliant afternoon it was! 💪📚

There were plenty of smiles and a bit of friendly competition as everyone tested their word skills, shared a few clever guesses, and cheered each other on. It’s a fantastic way to keep minds active and spirits high! 🌟

We’re so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic everyone was — who knew word games could be so much fun? 😄
