🩺🌍 Today is World Sepsis Day 🌍🩺

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that happens when the body’s response to an infection goes into overdrive and starts damaging its own tissues and organs.

⚠️ Every 3 seconds, someone in the world dies from sepsis, yet with early recognition and treatment, lives can be saved.

👉 Signs of sepsis in adults:
• Slurred speech or confusion
• Extreme shivering, muscle pain or fever
• Passing no urine in a day
• Severe breathlessness
• “I feel like I might die”
• Skin mottled or discoloured

👉 Signs of sepsis in children:
• Very fast breathing
• A fit (seizure) or convulsion
• Looking mottled, bluish or pale
• Very lethargic or difficult to wake
• Abnormally cold to the touch
• Not feeding, vomiting repeatedly, or not passing urine

🚨 If you suspect sepsis, act fast. It’s a medical emergency.

💡 Remember: If in doubt, check it out.

📢 Important Patient Notice

We have been made aware of a local internet issue in St Albans which is affecting our surgeries this morning. Unfortunately, this means we currently have no access to our clinical systems.

At present, our team are unable to view your records or make/cancel appointments. Please continue to attend your face-to-face appointments as usual. Telephone appointments may be delayed, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Our IT team are working hard on a workaround to restore access as soon as possible. We will provide updates here as the situation develops.

Thank you for bearing with us.

Today, we’re saying a big thank you to all the amazing physiotherapists who work alongside us at The Lodge Health Partnership.

👏 To our First Contact Physios,
👏 Our private physios who rent rooms within our surgeries,
👏 And to the Circle Physios who run local clinics from our sites for our patients
We appreciate everything you do.

Physiotherapists play a vital role in helping people manage pain, recover from injury, improve mobility, and maintain independence all while trying to reduce the need for medication.

💪 Thank you for supporting our patients' recovery, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Don’t let flu spoil their fun – protect your child with the free nasal spray flu vaccine 💉

This autumn 🍂, your little one has a superpower waiting for them – and it’s just a spray away!
All children aged 2 and 3 years are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine, given as a quick, painless nasal spray. No needles, no fuss – just a powerful shield to help protect them from flu.

Flu isn’t just a cold in disguise – it’s a serious illness that can:
• Cause high fever, sore throat, cough and extreme tiredness
• Lead to chest or ear infections
• In some cases, result in hospital stays for young children 🏥

Young children are particularly vulnerable, but with the nasal spray vaccine, they can fight off flu and get back to being little superheroes 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️.

Why young children should have the nasal spray:
• Flu spreads quickly, especially among children who can pass it on to family and friends
• The nasal spray is safe, fast, and completely needle-free
• Having a child off nursery with flu can be disruptive for working parents

The flu virus changes every year, which is why children need the vaccine even if they had it last year. By vaccinating your child, you’re not just protecting them – you’re helping to protect the whole family, including grandparents, siblings, and others who are more vulnerable ❤️.

📢 Government Emergency Alert – Sunday 7th September 📢

On Sunday 7th September, the government will send out a test emergency alert to mobile phones across the UK.

The alert will make a loud sound even if your phone is on silent.
This could put vulnerable individuals at risk if they have a hidden phone for safety.

💡 If you or someone you know has a phone that needs to stay hidden, please:
⚙️ Turn off emergency alerts in your phone settings before 7th September
📴 Or switch off the phone completely during the test

Please also alert elderly family and neighbours who may not know about the test that this will be happening to avoid any anxiety or worry around the message displayed or the reason for it.

Let’s help keep each other safe by sharing this information. Even a quiet reminder could protect someone from harm and worry. 💛
