Let’s talk Birth Plan aka Birth Preferences. If you want a template send me a DM, I’ll send it to you. X

❓Why should you do it?
You’ll take control of your birth and feel empowered to make decisions that are right for you and your baby whichever direction your birth takes.

The process of taking the time to think about what your thoughts are on every aspect of your birth experience (whether it goes down your preferred route or not) is essential to a positive birth experience.

⭐️Dedicate time to it.

⭐️ Discuss with your Birth Partner and make sure they know where you stand on each element.
➡️ That way you can rely on them to be your voice (remember that you will ultimately need to give your consent but the conversation can be led by your birth partner). Leaving you fully free to focus on your breathing.

⭐️ Share with your midwives and/or caregivers in any antenatal appointments or at the birth. You can print them out and pop them in your notes to make sure they get to read them as well.

How lovely is this spot to do listen to relaxation and visualisation tracks?? ☀️ 🏖 🥰

I’ve been doing some sessions with an amazingly chilled out couple who moved from the UK to Australia recently.

When they told me this is where they were doing their practice after work I had to share it with you all! ❤️

This is not only
🌟 amazingly lovely but it is also
🌟 an amazing trigger of a place where Dani felt safe and connected to her baby which she can use during her labour to take her back to this deep state of relaxation she is in. 🙌🏻

Thanks for sharing this with me Dani and Will!

Let me know where is your favourite place to do your relaxation, photos would be amazing too! 🤩

Happy International Women’s Day ladies! I never got as emotional reading a card as I did when I read this one.
The message resonates with me so much that I had to buy it for my friends and tell them how proud I was of them for what they had achieved in the last year or so.

I love it when women tune into their inner strength, using their mind to accomplish what they set their mind to.

Some have flourished, some have overcome the biggest challenges they had ever faced, some have found themselves at the lowest point but found the strength to make it back up to their high.

I’m in awe of the power women have within them and I love seeing that power come out.

Working in birth I love seeing when the magic happens at the moment where women realise that they can do it, they can trust their instinct and put themselves in the position of decision maker in the development of the labour and birth. And I love even more the look on their face when they tell me “I did it!” after giving birth. It’s a look of surprise. The surprise of how powerful they can be. It’s pride.

Women I admire you.
I want to learn from you all.
If I can make a difference to your lives in helping you plan your birth then that is the biggest reward I can ask for in my work.

Sending love to you all. ###❤️###

Do you know all your choices for where you can give birth? Here’s a little high level summary of what options are out there.

You can have support you in any of these settings. This may be a good way for you to feel safer as you will be accompanied by someone who you know and who is trained to support in giving birth.

But please remember that you can actually give birth ANYWHERE you wish to.

Dig deep and work out where you feel the safest to give birth:

🌱 for some that might be where transfer time is the lowest

🌿 for others it might be in the same environment as conception took place

🌸 it might also be where there are doctors if you need them

🌼 or it could be where you can have certain family present

🌻or where you are guaranteed a water birth

Notice that choosing the option your caregiver recommends is not the only option. You don’t have to give birth where they tell you to if you don’t feel that is right for you.

More women are classed as “high risk” nowadays.

That may include women who are:

➡️ diagnosed with gestional diabetes
➡️ VBaC (vaginal birth after caesarean)
➡️ high BMI
➡️ age
➡️ needing induction
➡️ big baby
➡️ small baby
➡️ breech baby
➡️ transverse baby

And the list goes on.

Some of these reasons do need a medicalised birth but
❗️not ALL of them ALL the time ❗️

This is when you need to:

1. Listen to your caregiver’s guidance (because we know that deep down you might only feel comfortable if you feel like you have taken what they told you into consideration)

BUT also

2. Do your own research to make sure what they are suggesting is backed by research and facts.

So you need to:
🌟 know your options and
🌟pick the one that is right for you and your baby

👉🏻 If you need any help working out what is right for your and your baby please feel free to get in touch in DM 💌 and I’ll give you pointers to research that will help.

Love to all! 🌟🌼

👋 Following my reel on “Ditch your due date”, here’s more info behind how the due dates are estimated so we can have a better understanding of why due dates should only be considered as indicative.

For those of you who want more info on this topic, as well as induction, I highly recommend the following books which I used as sources for this post.

- “Inducing Labour” by Dr Sara Wickham
- “Why Induction Matters” by Dr Rachel Reed
- “The Hypnobirthing Book” by Katharine Graves (you will get this book for free when you book your Hypnobirthing course with me)

Lots of love to you all.

I never thought I’d have home birth, let alone 3! 👶 👶 👶 🏡

Home births are so often overlooked. Yet, in my opinion, and as increasingly shown by research, it is the best option for straightforward physiological birth to take place as long as being at home to give birth makes you feel safe.

I‘ll be posting more about home births in the coming weeks, including more practical guides of what you need, how to get a pool, how to set it all up, etc.

Oh and what do you think of the little magic trick on the last picture? 🤩

🌟💕Huge congratulations to the parents of the beautiful Ilias! 🍾🎉

When I first met this Client and told her what I did for a living she said that she thought Hypnobirthing was too hippie for her.

We had a chat, she looked into the links and podcasts I’d sent her and she (and her husband!) decided to do the course.

I went to their house in the evenings after they had put they toddler to bed to have our lovely session. 4 sessions over 3 weeks.

They’d had a traumatic experience with their first baby which resulted in be going into the OR for a 3rd degree tear. They were scared of this birth.

They were both sceptical and scared when we started and soon realised that these sessions would help them.

I’m so so so happy that she “had the birth of her dreams” and honoured to have been with them on the journey. 😍

I will share her entire birth story soon!

I wish them all the joy and happiness as a family of 4!

👉🏻 Hypnobirthing as too Hippie? Share this story with anyone who thinks that it is too hippie for them

👉🏻 Message me to book a place on the upcoming FREE taster session.

Love to you all! 😘🌟

Here is the story behind 🌟Your Birth Coach🌟 and how I got to coach couples in their preparation to a beautiful birth so they could become proud and confident parents. 🥰🙌🏻

I have always wanted to make a difference to people’s lives. I’ve always loved to listen to their stories and find ways to help.
When I discovered the world of Hypnobirthing for my first pregnancy I knew that the birthing world was where I was meant to be.

It’s harder than we might think to have a natural birth we feel totally in control of nowadays and this is why antenatal preparation is so so important. Hypnobirthing antenatal classes really prepare you for the tough decisions and conversations you might find yourself needing to have during your pregnancy. It helps you feel in control of your own body and of your baby’s birth.

If you want to overcome all the negative noise around birth and prepare for a beautiful and positive birth experience let’s have a chat.

Send me a DM to find out how I might be able to help. 🌟

Sending lots of love to all expectant mums and dads out there. 😘 You can do this. 🙌🏻

It’s not always easy to be accepting of our bodies when we are pregnant.

Although we love that we are expecting a baby, seeing our body we are used taking care of change into something we can’t identify with can be really challenging.

We experience strange things and sometimes may not feel like ourselves

❓has anyone ever been in floods of tears for having dropped toast on the floor when pregnant? Yep! 🙋🏼‍♀️ Been there. 😭

Some of most common changes to our bodies include:
👉🏻 water retention
👉🏻 hormonal fluctuations
👉🏻 nausea
👉🏻 back and other joint aches
👉🏻 thicker hair
👉🏻 changes in taste buds
👉🏻 enhanced sense of smell
👉🏻 weight gain (not just baby weight)

None of these are ideal but if we think about the beautiful process that is taking place inside of our bodies, it isn’t surprising that the body adjusts.

This affirmation is beautiful and helps us look at our pregnant bodies through the lens of the beauty unravelling inside us.

Love your body, care for your body as it is your body that is doing the most miraculous transformation in your life.

Pregnancy is full of highs and lows. Our minds are on high alert on the look out for anything that may be wrong, it’s our mammal instinct for protection and survival.

Sometimes we worry and that worry about tomorrow can take the joy away from today.

💕 show some self-care. Breathe. Just breathe and believe that everything is going to be ok. Because right now everything is ok and unless you are told otherwise, everything will be ok.

Sending all pregnancy mums lots of love and positive vibes.

You are amazing.
Your body is amazing.
Your baby is so grateful to be spending this time growing inside of you.

When I was pregnant I loved to think about my baby and I as a team.

🌟 I provided the
1) body for them to grow in and
2) the best conditions for them to be born in
🌟 they would tell me when and how they would be born

I have always trusted my babies and (now children) to tell me their physiological needs. They know better than I do.

It dawned on me that this isn’t new, it’s a mentality I adopted when I was preparing for their birth.

What better foundation to build a mother baby bond than TRUST? ❤️❤️❤️

Another lovely one. 🥰

By focusing on taking one breath at a time labour will feel so much more manageable.

I’d like you to try something:

👉🏻 As you practice your breath in the lead up to the birth time it.

You will be surprised how long it will actually take to breathe in deeply and out fully.

Surges (also known as contractions but that’s not as nice a word so I say “surges” ☺️) in active labour on average lasts 1min.

You have two options:
1) holding on for dear life and tensing up waiting for the contraction to go away… (which is going to slow your labour 😣)

Or

2) breathe in and out deeply focusing on that breath and visualising opening and relaxing your body. Keeping your mind calm. And keeping labour going efficiently.

I’d pick no.2!

This is one the simple tricks you learn with Hypnobirthing. Option 1, is what a lot of women who have not done Hypnobirthing experience.

With Hypnobirthing you can really work with your body thanks for the visualisations and your breath.

POSITIVE STATEMENTS — At first glance they may seem a bit awkward but I PROMISE you the more you read them, listen to them and practice saying them the more they will feel comforting.

To find out more how to use them check out my previous post on POSITIVE STATEMENTS.

This is another one that stuck in my mind big time when giving birth and really helped throughout my labour:

- 1st stage (where the dilatation happens) you can think this to yourself to help your cervix to open and to reach full dilatation. Encourage that feeling of stretching and opening that is happening.

- 2nd stage (the pushing stage) you can think about softening and opening even more to make as much space as possible for baby down the birth canal as well as when the head gets to the perineum.
heir way down and out it really helps to imagine it all being soft and open.

It’s an excellent one to think to yourself as you breathe out.

In the KGHypnobirthing scripts that I use in my session we do a lovely script where we think “Soften, soften, soften” to ourselves.

I love love this one!

Here’s a bit of a personal story: « my 3rd baby was back to back, no matter how much I thought about my position I just didn’t manage to get him to turn around but I trusted him and knew we’d find a way together.

And we did! All on our own.

The support of my husband was crucial, I trusted him, we had prepared for all 3 births together so he knew everything I knew about birth (well nearly 😉)

He was actually born at home before the midwifes’ arrived (Birth Before Arrival « BBA »).

I kept telling myself this statement « you and me, we can do this. Let’s do it! »

1. Put some music on2. Close your eyes3. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply 4. When you are ready take yourself to tha...

1. Put some music on
2. Close your eyes
3. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply
4. When you are ready take yourself to that lovely place:
🌟where you have felt calm, happy, loved, safe
🌟 It can be a real place or one in your imagination made up of different memories and pictures you’ve seen and felt attracted to
5. Once in that place really picture and feel the components of that image:
💫 is it hot? Cold? Just warm?
💫 what can you smell?
💫 who is with you?
💫 what colours can you see?
💫 what can you hear?

Just imagine yourself there, sat or standing just taking everything in, feeling calm, safe and happy

The more you practice, the quicker you will get to that place when you need it in labour.

You might want to use it if you’re getting tired or feeling a bit overwhelmed during labour.

Visualisations take you where you want to go. 🥰 They are so lovely. ❤️ And unlike many things that are really lovely in life we don’t have to use them in moderation! Use them daily, multiple times a day if you fancy it.

We don’t give anywhere near enough credit to the power of visualisations.

My first podcast spotlight!
🎵The Herstory of Modern Birth practice”

It just was so enlightening. 🤩

Until recently I thought (and I know many still do or maybe they hope?) that we should totally trust that the maternity services policies are the way they are because it is the safest for everyone.

But…

…then I couldn’t get my head around why so many women were having difficult births. 🧐

Our bodies were made to do this. So why is it so traumatic???

I found this episode so helpful to understand why women are not taught to trust themselves and their bodies.

🤰Women used to give birth at home surrounded by their friends and relatives and supported by a midwife who was there to being this back on track if required. Attending birth was very much a part of a woman’s life, women were the experts

✋Things really started to change when labouring women couldn’t have their support group with them for their labour and post-natal period as, at that point, women had to go to work so they were no longer available

In parallel there were major progress in the medical world and changes in how women were perceived in society (I.e.lesser than men)

Women’s bodies were described as “dangerous machines which needed man’s help to make it more efficient” . The danger was increasingly coming from the absence of close support and care from other women who now needed to go to work.

So what did we replace that support with? Interventions. They purely focused on the mechanistic aspect of the body.

The rest is history I guess!

My thoughts:

🌟women’s bodies are amazing and work in powerful but subtle ways. The mind is very much connected to the way the body functions, we cannot separate the two.

I have hope that the more women understand the physiology of birth the better birth experiences we will have all around. 🙏🏼

This is why I am so happy to be working in this field with so many other major influential women.

Antenatal preparation is KEY!

17/01/2022

The birth of our babies affect us as women in so many deep ways. Sometimes we’re aware of it and sometimes we’re not, but we always are affected and carry the consequences of the physically and psychological experience with us for years after the birth.

How the woman feels is often downplayed, sometimes disregarded in birth, by doctors and by society. « All that matters is that baby is well ».

That’s simply not true.

A birthing woman deserves respect. She deserves to be listened to. A birthing woman deserves kindness, support and to be cared for.

We, women, forget that. As a result of how birth has evolved over the years, we hand over all of our dignity, trust to others, often the doctors as we see them as the experts. They are not the experts of physiological birth, they are the experts we call in when things veer away from normality.

With the right preparation, the expert is you, the woman, the soon to be mum. Antenatal preparation should provide you with the tools and support to grow that self-confidence which shouts « MY BABY AND I CAN DO THIS»

So:
💫 prepare for the birth that is right for you
💫 do your research
💫 connect with your baby and your inner mum
💫 then listen to your instinct
💫 and trust your body and your baby

Your baby will thank you for it during their birth but also as they grow into a toddler, a child and throughout the years that follow.

Having a positive birth experience will help make you a more confident mum from the first second you hold your child in your arms.

Good morning everyone!

Imagine this:
🌟 you are sitting there holding your little just born baby in your arms, feeling empowered and proud. 🥰

You did it!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

✨The birth was calm, comfortable, powerful.

💫There may have been some moments when you were a little worried about something but that was quickly addressed as you and your birth partner knew what questions to ask and understood the options presented to you both by midwives/obstetricians.

💪🏻 You knew what felt right for you and you felt confident to ask for it.

That’s what Hypnobirthing helps you achieve. ♥️🌟💪🏻

27/12/2021

The breath is often referred to as “pain relief”. I’d even go as far as say that it’s pain prevention”. Why?

👉🏻 To need pain relief there needs to be pain, and more specifically unmanageable pain.

BUT…

Why would nature make the birthing process so unmanageably painful that we need medical pain relief and drugs?

🤔 It just doesn’t make sense!!

SO … What we should do is understand how our bodies work and identify what we are feeling.

Embrace the power coming from our muscles and encourage them to contract and release in order to open the cervix and make way for baby to make their way down the birth canal.

Once we understand this is happening we can use deep breaths in and deep breaths out to help us relax and keep our minds out of the way of our muscles doing their job. If our muscles are relaxed they won’t “hurt” they will simply be doing their job.

🧘‍♀️So take a deep breath in through the nose and a deep breath out through the mouth. Breath out tension and breathe in relaxation.

It takes practice, practice and more practice in the lead up to the birth but TRUST ME it really works! How else do women give birth at home with no pain relief?

Safe environment + relaxed mother = calm labour and birth.

TRUST YOUR BODY, use your breath to relax and let it do what it needs to bring your baby to you. 🥰
