✨ Mummy MOT - your personalised postnatal assessment ✨

A postnatal physiotherapy assessment is recommended for everyone who has had a baby.

As a certified Mummy MOT practitioner with a background of years working as a pelvic health physiotherapist, I am privileged to be able to support women in their postnatal journey, providing holistic evidence-based individualised care.

🟣 Pregnancy and birth is hugely physically & mentally demanding. A postnatal physio check can help get you on track to feeling strong and returning to doing all the activities you enjoy, whilst optimising your pelvic health for the long term.

🌟 A Mummy MOT is recommended from 6-8 weeks postnatal - but it’s also never too late.
If you have any concerns prior to 6 weeks, it can also be helpful to speak with a physiotherapist who will be able to provide guidance in the early days/weeks.

🟣 A Mummy MOT is a comprehensive postnatal assessment checking pelvic floor muscle function, optimising bladder & bowel function, checking for prolapse, assessing posture, breathing and any aches/pains. C-section scars / perineal scars are assessed and treated. We also do an abdominal assessment checking muscle function and for diastasis recti (tummy gap).
The assessment is always focused towards your individual goals and a holistic plan is provided alongside personalised rehab programme.

🌟 Postnatal physio can be hugely beneficial both in the early weeks postnatal but also for the long term. It’s never too late, so if you’ve had a baby months or years ago, a pelvic health physio assessment / Mummy MOT can be really beneficial for optimising your pelvic health.

If you’re unsure about the assessment do get in touch! I’m always happy to chat.

🌟 What a few weeks it’s been! 🌟

I’ve been quiet on here but life has been the opposite.

✨ It’s been a busy few weeks in clinic - supporting amazing Mamas with their postnatal rehab - Mummy MOTs provide an opportunity for a personalised in-depth assessment and an individualised rehab programme. Pregnancy is hugely demanding on our bodies, and I strongly believe we all deserve support and personalised rehab to help us feel good and strong, and to optimise our pelvic health long term.
Also supported women with symptoms of bladder urgency, leaking and constipation, prolapse symptoms and post-surgery rehabilitation. Pelvic health physio is wide ranging so if you’re not sure if we can help, do get in touch! I’m always happy to chat.

My personal training sessions with are always so good for me mentally and physically - even if I’m on the floor afterwards 😅. Got some great goals this year - getting myself strong is one of them 💪🏻

These past few weeks have been spent cosying up in the evenings by a far, after busy days chasing my now 2 year old around the park in all weathers - if anyone has any raincoat recommendations let me know!

✨ Got some exciting events in the planning stages for 2025 - I’m so keen share how pelvic health physio is relevant for all women throughout all stages of life 🙌🏻

Bladder symptoms are so common (1 in 3 women experience leakage) and symptoms can really get in the way of a good time.

🎄 Ways to keep your bladder comfortable this Christmas time 🎄

🌟 Keep well hydrated aiming 1.5-2l water daily

🌟 Try to avoid constipation - having regular fibre, fruit & veg in your meals, avoid skipping meals, allow some time to rest and digest after a meal, regular exercise - even a short brisk walk, can all help. Consider using a footstool to help open bowels with ease.

🌟 Try not to hover over toilet seats - sitting fully and relaxing, taking your time, can help to fully empty your bladder

🌟 Alcohol can irritate the bladder, choosing low alcohol or alcohol-free alternatives could help keep your bladder feeling more comfortable

🌟 Prioritise wellbeing and relaxation - urgency can often be exacerbated with stress, worry and rushing.

🌟 Pelvic floor exercises - keeping your muscles strong and flexible can make a big difference and it’s never too late to start.

If you’re not sure where to start, an experienced pelvic health physiotherapist will be to support and provide individual treatment advice to help you manage and improve symptoms. A holistic approach is often the best way forward, with an individualised rehab programme.
