Bladder symptoms are so common (1 in 3 women experience leakage) and symptoms can really get in the way of a good time.
🎄 Ways to keep your bladder comfortable this Christmas time 🎄
🌟 Keep well hydrated aiming 1.5-2l water daily
🌟 Try to avoid constipation - having regular fibre, fruit & veg in your meals, avoid skipping meals, allow some time to rest and digest after a meal, regular exercise - even a short brisk walk, can all help. Consider using a footstool to help open bowels with ease.
🌟 Try not to hover over toilet seats - sitting fully and relaxing, taking your time, can help to fully empty your bladder
🌟 Alcohol can irritate the bladder, choosing low alcohol or alcohol-free alternatives could help keep your bladder feeling more comfortable
🌟 Prioritise wellbeing and relaxation - urgency can often be exacerbated with stress, worry and rushing.
🌟 Pelvic floor exercises - keeping your muscles strong and flexible can make a big difference and it’s never too late to start.
If you’re not sure where to start, an experienced pelvic health physiotherapist will be to support and provide individual treatment advice to help you manage and improve symptoms. A holistic approach is often the best way forward, with an individualised rehab programme.
