ETL Mudders 2025 🧡💪🏼🔥

Yesterday, we completed Tough Mudder Yorkshire! 👏🏼

16km / 10 miles, 20+ obstacles, a few bruises and bumps, lots of mud, water and laughter, and a few Yorkshire hills thrown in for good measure 😅

A smaller team than the last few years, but the support, teamwork and energy from everyone was HUGE. Everyone mucked in (literally 😜), and helped, lifted and cheered for each other, and other teams too - it was amazing to see! 🧡

A massive well done team, to our first timers, and those on your 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 10th… you smashed it! You embraced the discomfort, faced your own challenges and fears, took on the physically and mentally tough obstacles, and completed that 16km course! 👏🏼

RunStrong workshop & RunClub

Last night saw our runners participate in a Strength for runners workshop with a sessions focus more knee dominant isometrics and different deep tier plyometric movements🏃‍♂️

Followed by a 5/6k run from the Gym.

It has been great delivering these sessions these past couple of weeks... seeing our runners getting more confident and asking great questions😄

RUN STRONG Workshop

STARTING WEDNESDAY🤩

This is a 2 part run-specific strength workshop to educate you on specific exercises/movement patterns to improve performance and reduce injury risk while balancing running.
Main focus will be to introduce you to different plyometrics/isometrics/dynamic movements and specific strength exercises... where you can learn and implement into your own training.

Workshop dates will be -
WEDNESDAY 16th - 6.45-7.30pm
WEDNESDAY 23rd - 6.45-7.30pm

Price for both sessions is £20... which also includes a PDF copy of sessions for you to implement into your own training week.

Both sessions will include access to our Run Club meet held straight after the workshop (optional).

Considerations for using AI generated Running Plans.

Running apps and ai generated running plans are a great, low-cost option and intelligent tools. They provide you with guidance to achieve your goals, and used well they can provide great results, although can also potentially limit an athletes potential by being fixed, or not meet an athlete where they are at, and this could result in injury.

Here's a few considerations on how to use them safely:

🔶Training History
Your story matters... and these apps or your ai pal don't delve deep into your training history. If you're returning from a period of inactivity or injury then maybe an app isn't for you right now. In these instances collaborating with a specialist coach, a physio or both will benefit you to ensure a safe return to practice.

🔶Pace
The majority of apps prescribe training based on paces... while yes for sure pace has a place in your training plan... But is your session a 'bad' session due to hitting 4:50 min/km and not 4:45 min/km? No.
Pace may lack context in some cases... you might feel amazing and the prescribed pace feels a breeze or alternatively you are carrying some fatigue and don't hit the paces and thats also fine but don't feel angry or frustrated. CONTEXT matters! Training to more of an RPE scale may be more suitable and easier on the brain.

🔶Training Load
These apps or plans typically create you a programme based on how many days a week you'd like to run... is this a calculated number or just an arbitrary number of the top of your head based on the person you want to become... or someone you see on Instagram… and possibly not taking into account other activities you do. As a result this may not meet or be right for you and your needs right now. Learn to listen to the cues your body is giving you and take them seriously... maybe you have a ni**le, you are tired... respect it and respect your body.

AI generated plans are tools and can be a great way marker for you but they are not coaches. Used wisely as they don’t know how you’re feeling today and don’t adapt to that where you may benefit to.

Respect your body, respect your mind and respect your training!

Shout out and huge well done to our clients and coaches who completed events last weekend 💪🏻🤩

We had Coach G, Pete, Ewan & Coach Kel running the Chester Half Marathon (21.1km) on Sunday 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️💪🏼

We had Mel over in Snowdonia on Saturday completing the UTS 50km Ultra Marathon 🏃🏼‍♀️⛰️💪🏼

Well done to you all! You’re all amazing - awesome efforts all round 👏🏼👏🏼

Have an event this weekend?

Whether that be Hybrid X or any other event/race... here are a few pre event tips and thoughts for you.

🔸 Don't overthink it... easier said than done right but a calm mind will have you in such a better space come event day.

🔸 Stick to what you know... you might see your friend do one thing, a person on Instagram doing another. Remember... you know you best and do what you need to do to prepare best for your event.

🔸 Do not panic train. Don't go to the gym and smash out killer simulation workouts or hard sessions as you think you might be underprepared. Your work should be done by now... trust your training and the work you have put in. There isn't much fitness to be gained in the week of your event but you could fatigue your body and be exhausted come event day.

🔸 Freshen up... adjust your training accordingly, book a sports massage, keep your nutrition on point.

🔸 Give yourself the license to go out there and perform. Show yourself the hard work you have put in and give your body and mind the permission to get out there and perform to the best of your ability.

Personal Training sessions, in groups of up to 12 people, structured programming and modified for the individual, as needed, so it’s suitable for all and designed so you can come to 1 or 2 a week, or all 4, and see great progress.

We also include Ride sessions, Run Club meets, and a mobility session too, to further support your fitness goals.

You’ll also get access to our coaching app too for support with your nutrition and lifestyle habits and to track your progress.
