We're delighted Edgar and Lydia are coming back to Manchester for a weekend. They started their yoga journey with Marion Kilburn whilst at Manchester University remaining very close friends with Marion and MDIY. Edgar and Lydia share the teaching of workshop weekends giving a wonderful aspect to practice. This weekend will include philosophy charts (at lunchtime) and a chance to sit and eat a samosa together at the end of the session on Saturday. We can remember Marion together. We have followed the Pune cycle of practice these last weeks and I would like to offer to you the restorative sequence this week. We create a well balanced practice by alternating the focus of sessions moving traditionally from standing poses to forward bends, backbends and finally rest and breath. Regularly varying your focal point helps to ensure that you wont neglect any areas!
This week is designed to reduce stress and anxiety by turning us inward which can lead to a reduction in stress hormone secretion, which in turn supports your immune system. Some chest opening too! helping you optimise aeration of your lungs. Initially we will find this in the front chest but as the class progresses we will open the back chest bringing ease of breath when respiration is compromised.
