We're delighted Edgar and Lydia are coming back to Manchester for a weekend. They started their yoga journey with Marion Kilburn whilst at Manchester University remaining very close friends with Marion and MDIY. Edgar and Lydia share the teaching of workshop weekends giving a wonderful aspect to practice. This weekend will include philosophy charts (at lunchtime) and a chance to sit and eat a samosa together at the end of the session on Saturday. We can remember Marion together. We have followed the Pune cycle of practice these last weeks and I would like to offer to you the restorative sequence this week. We create a well balanced practice by alternating the focus of sessions moving traditionally from standing poses to forward bends, backbends and finally rest and breath. Regularly varying your focal point helps to ensure that you wont neglect any areas!
This week is designed to reduce stress and anxiety by turning us inward which can lead to a reduction in stress hormone secretion, which in turn supports your immune system. Some chest opening too! helping you optimise aeration of your lungs. Initially we will find this in the front chest but as the class progresses we will open the back chest bringing ease of breath when respiration is compromised.

This is not a gentle yoga class! Classes are sometimes strenuous, sometimes blissfully relaxing and always very precise. If you are looking for 'soft and fluffy' yoga, it's not the class for you! As a senior teacher of 20 years experience, I will adapt as needed for injuries and stiffness and we will build up strength gradually. Suitable for all genders

The spring Iyengar Yoga beginners course at The Evergreen Hall, Coleford kicks off Monday March 3rd for a six week journey in steadiness, stability, mobility and flexibility. For those of you hungry to learn, and ready to travel to the country of self booking is open for the final mat spaces this term.
It's my role to help the practice ‘fit’,
to help you understand anatomical guidance and translate it into the action in your body.
It is for me to keep you fully engaged in the process of your own embodiment doing real yoga.
As a teacher it’s a joy to teach students who have committed to the process and are open to whatever learning comes their way.
Preconceived notions of what is ‘right’ or ‘better’ don’t loom large or interfere in our practice.

I love the practices of Iyengar Yoga so much. I’ve been teaching for the last 15 years of my 30 years study and it’s true , through powerful postures, precision and focus we can go direct to Source through our body.

It’s direct, personal and experiential.

“The Yoga of Breath” course offers an opportunity to dive deeply into the powerful practice of pranayama, the art of breath control in yoga. This course, led by Kishe Redwood, an experienced Iyengar teacher, will span four modules, held on Thursday evenings throughout November. Kishe brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong foundation in Iyengar yoga principles, known for their focus on alignment, precision, and depth, especially within breathwork.

What to Expect

Through the course, you’ll explore various breathing techniques that help center the mind, reduce stress, and increase energy. Each session will guide participants through methods to develop a mindful awareness of breath, creating a meditative practice that aligns body and mind. Pranayama not only enhances yoga practice but can also benefit daily life, bringing greater calm, clarity, and focus.
