If you feel that you are suffering symptoms of impacted wax such as hearing loss, feeling of fullness or blockage, tinnitus, itching, pain, discharge or odour, please seek our advice or book an appointment to come to see Zoe or her team of nurses at one of 3 clinics across Cornwall.
They will be able to look properly into the ears and determine if there is a wax build up or any other underlying problem and will also be able to safely clean out the ears and provide guidance for future prevention.
Please do not be tempted to use Q tips/cotton buds or any other instrument (such as hairgrips, keys, pencils etc!!!) to try to remove earwax as it is likely cause more damage to your ear than give any benefit.

PSORIASIS AWARENESS MONTH 1st-30th August

Many people may not know that Psoriasis can affect the ears

What Is Ear Psoriasis?
Ear psoriasis is a chronic – meaning ongoing – skin condition that happens when your immune system reacts too strongly to protect against germs and other invaders. This causes dead skin cells to build up in and around your ears and form thick, scaly patches.

Most of the time, symptoms appear on the outside of the ear as well as in the crease behind it. They can happen inside the ear canal, too. The condition doesn’t reach deeper to affect more delicate parts like the eardrum, though.

Whether your condition is mild or severe, you have several treatment options to ease symptoms on and in your ears.

Ear Psoriasis Symptoms
You may have:

Red, dry patches of skin on your ear for lighter skin tones. On darker skin tones, patches can look purple or grey.
Silvery or crusty scales called plaques
Scales that build up inside your ear canal
Itching, burning, or tenderness inside and outside the ear
A clogged feeling inside your ear
Trouble hearing
If you scratch and pick at the affected areas or try to clear out the build up inside your ear, that could lead to bleeding and more irritation and inflammation. It may even cause the psoriasis to spread to nearby areas.

We unusually have some availability next week with our 3 lovely nurses Bridget, Wendy and Emma at our St Columb, Liskeard and Threemilestone clinics.
Bridget is at St Columb on Mondays and Thursdays and every other Saturday and at Liskeard every Tuesday.
Wendy is at St Columb every Friday.
Emma is at Threemilestone every Monday.
