Rainbow Medical Centre Practice Patient Group (PPG) Needs YOU !

Do you have an hour every 3 months to meet with the Group?

Rainbow Medical Centre has had a PPG since 2008

The group was formed to:
Contribute to the improvement of the practice
Improve communication between the practice and its patients
Help patients to take more responsibility for their health
Provide practical support and help as the practice implements change

Since its conception it has:
Helped the practice lobby for equipment to improve patient care
Been consulted with when the practice introduced electronic consultations, changed opening hours and added a telephone queuing system amongst other things
Identified issues that patients face with the practice and came up with solutions to address them
In summary; the group has helped the practice improve the patient experience

The Practice is always changing and evolving – due to the patient needs, expectations of the wider NHS and internal practice improvements etc. We need you to help influence the changes

The Patient Group is not:
A forum for complaints
A fan club for the practice

If you can challenge but in a constructive way and if you can work with us to implement changes – we need you

If interested: please pass you contact details to a member of our reception team – Name, address, phone number plus email address if you have one

👶👶We have had a number of infant immunisation clinics recently with high levels of non-attendance. On one session last week NO children were brought to their appointments. This is not only a waste of valuable NHS resources but leaves many children of St Helens vulnerable to preventable serious diseases. Please ensure your children's vaccinations are up to date and always contact the surgery if you are unable to attend yours or your children's appointments. 👶👶Thank you.

Loneliness Awareness Week 2025 9th-15th June
Presenting a valuable opportunity to address the growing concern of loneliness. This year's theme, "Meeting Loneliness Together," emphasises reducing the stigma around this natural human emotion and encourages collective efforts to foster connections.

Why This Matters:
If loneliness is very severe or lasts a long time, it might increase the risk of some physical conditions such as dementia and mental health conditions such as stress, anxiety, low mood or depression.

Please find useful resources https://campaignresources.dhsc.gov.uk/campaigns/better-health-every-mind-matters/loneliness-campaign/, aimed at a 16-24 year old audience, on the Campaign Resource Centre.

Loneliness is a feeling most of us will experience - but stigma keeps us silent. Together we can talk about loneliness, understand loneliness, challenge stigma, and create space for honest discussion. Hosted by Marmalade Trust, Loneliness Awareness Week has thousands of people across the UK and globally getting involved. From street parties to coffee mornings – businesses, community groups, charities, and individuals can use this as an opportunity to showcase how they help people connect.

Visit www.lonelinessawarenessweek.org to learn more, access downloadable resources and add your activities to the Connections Map.

Loneliness Awareness Week aims to open conversations about loneliness and reduce the stigma. Join us from 9 - 15 June 2025! Brought to you by Marmalade Trust.

FRAUD ALERT 029 (05.06.2025)
**TO MAKE YOU AWARE**
We have received notification from a local GP practice that one of their patients has received a phone call from someone masquerading as a medical professional associated with their practice. They alleged they were a “senior health advisor” who worked alongside the practice in question.
The caller engaged the patient initially by asking about their medical problems, both old and ongoing. Once a rapport had been established, the caller then offered them some medication which they could try at a cost, then proceeded to ask for bank details to proceed with payment.
The number of the caller was 01900 516 559, a number that has been previously associated with fraudsters for vehicle accident insurance call scams.

The Rainbow Practice Patient Group (PPG) needs you!
The Rainbow PPG is looking for new members.

Are you able to provide 1 -2 hours every 3 months to attend the meetings?

The PPG is a partnership between patients, GPs/doctors and the surgery. It’s a platform that aids discussions about services the surgery provides and how they can be improved.
Comprising volunteer patients, the PPG collaborates directly with the surgery management and staff.

The PPG has been instrumental in the development of a practice newsletter, in supporting the practice to develop a patient survey and regularly contributes opinions relating to changes within the practice.

If you have time to spare; please let us know either by filling in the questionnaire on line or by letting a member of staff know the next time you are in the practice.

Thank you in advance
