The implant is a very effective form of contraception, so it protects you from pregnancy. However, it doesn’t protect against s*xually transmitted infections (STIs).

Condoms are the only method that help reduce the risk of both pregnancy and STIs. So if there’s any risk of infection — for example with a new partner — using condoms as well as the implant is the safest option. If you’re unsure what’s right for you, visit our clinic or drop in to see TAZ at a local drop in and we can talk it through confidentially.

If you believe DoxyPEP might be helpful for you, stop by our clinic and consult with our team to assess your needs. 🏥💊 St Helens Sexual Health is a walk- in service open Monday to Friday 9:00 am till 4:30 pm. Yes, you can get an STI from oral s*x.

Some infections — such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, herpes and HPV — can be passed through oral s*x, even if no one has symptoms. That’s because many STIs don’t cause obvious signs, so someone might not know they have one.

Using condoms or dental dams during oral s*x can reduce the risk, and regular testing is a good idea if you’re s*xually active.

If you’re ever unsure, your s*xual health clinic can give you confidential advice and support or visit www.s*xualhealthsthelens.nhs.uk
