Silence can feel uncomfortable, especially early in practice. Yet silence often:
-allows insight to land
-gives space for emotion
-invites responsibility back to the coachee

Many experienced coaches say their work changed when they stopped rushing to fill the space.

How do you experience silence in your coaching?

Some coaches reach a point where 1:1 work no longer feels like the whole story. They begin to notice the power of shared insight, collective reflection, and learning between people.

is not about managing a group, it is about holding a space where learning can emerge.

One of the biggest myths in coaching is that improvement comes from adding more.
In reality, depth often comes from: Doing less...Listening longer....Reflecting more honestly
Supervision, reflection, and CPD are not signs of uncertainty, they are markers of professional confidence.

There is a subtle shift that happens as coaches grow. We move from “What should I do next?” to “What is needed here?”

This is where coaching becomes less about performance and more about professional judgement.
Noticing context, systems, power, and responsibility is part of mature coaching practice.

What helps you trust your judgement as a coach?

Coaching qualifications matter. Experience matters. But so does identity.

At some point, many coaches quietly ask:
Who am I becoming through this work?

Professional coaching is not just about what we do —
it is about how we show up, what we stand for, and how we continue to develop with integrity.

Before tools and techniques, there is presence.

We often notice that the most impactful coaching moments don’t come from clever questions,
but from how deeply the coach is listening, to the words, the pauses, and what is underneath.

This week, notice:
- Where you slow down
- Where you resist fixing
- Where the conversation wants to lead, rather than where you planned to take it

What are you noticing more as you listen lately?

Many people come to coaching before they ever call themselves a coach. They are already listening, supporting, encouraging..and wondering how to do it more intentionally. Introductory coaching training is often a first step: learning how to listen well, ask better questions, and create space for reflection.

January often comes with pressure to do more. In coaching, the invitation is often to return rather than rush. Strong practice is not built on momentum alone. It is built on reflection, ethical awareness, supervision, and a commitment to keep learning. As you start your week as coaches, pause to ask: What foundations am I standing on as I step into a new year of practice?
