Andy Reid MBE - Standing Tall Foundation

Andy Reid MBE - Standing Tall Foundation In October 2009, Corporal Andy Reid MBE stepped on a Taliban improvised explosive device while on patrol in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

The Standing Tall Foundation promote the mental and physical health of all community groups through the provision of counselling, addiction support, Housing and Benefits advice and physical activity initiatives. Injured so badly that it was thought he would not survive, he defied the odds to the extent that, within a month, he was able to meet up with members of his patrol again. Since then as a triple amputee, he has gone on to carry out many arduous challenges to raise money and give back to the associations that helped him and his family through difficult times. To assist him in his endeavours, Andy set up the Standing Tall Foundation in March of 2020, perhaps the worst time in modern history to do so. With little in the way of resources and funding he set about assisting people on an individual basis. Along the way he tackled homelessness, attempted suicide, job loss, depression and various mental health scenarios, much of it at his own expense and time. Each fresh case presented a whole new set of circumstances to deal with and resolve or put measures in place to help. The Standing Tall Foundation has now evolved, and promotes the mental and physical health of all community groups through the provision of counselling, addiction support and physical activity initiatives. We further extend this support into the community to help those in financial hardship, including the homeless, via the provision of grants, items and services using the resources secured by the Foundation or those made available to us.

Our Co-Founder and Marathon man William Andrew Reid was at Salford Quays yesterday filming and training for his TCS London Marathon challenge with the Army Benevolent Fund.

He was joined by his friend and fellow supporter Jason Manford who came to wish Andy and all the other participants of the marathon well.

Andy is one of only 3,000 injured or disabled people taking part in the race out of 60,000 runners.

He is aiming to complete the whopping 26.2 mile course in under 12 hours, making him the first ever triple amputee to finish in the designated time.

This is a monumental challenge and we really appreciate you supporting Andy if you can. ๐Ÿ™

All the money raised goes towards helping Veterans with their mental health, addiction, physical wellbeing and welfare issues.

Today, on International Womenโ€™s Day, all of us at Standing Tall Foundation want to take a moment to celebrate and thank the incredible women who support, inspire, and strengthen our community every single day.

To the amazing women in our team, the wives, partners, mums, friends who stand beside us, and the colleagues who work with passion and dedication โ€” thank you. Your commitment, resilience, and belief in what we do help make our mission possible.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œGive to Gain,โ€ is a powerful reminder that when we invest in each other โ€” with support, opportunity, kindness, and encouragement โ€” we all grow stronger together. By giving our time, respect, and support to the women around us, we gain stronger communities, brighter futures, and greater impact.

At Standing Tall Foundation, we are proud to stand alongside the women who lift others up, break down barriers, and help build a more inclusive and supportive world.

๐Ÿ’œ Today we celebrate you. Today we thank you. Today we stand tall together.

Please support Andy with this epic challenge if you can!

Afghanistan veteran and triple amputee Andy Reid MBE is taking on the 2026 London Marathon to raise funds for both ABF The Soldiersโ€™ Charity and his own charity, the Standing Tall Foundation. ๐Ÿ’š

Andy is no stranger to huge challenges โ€” heโ€™s climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, abseiled Blackpool Tower, and completed a 600โ€‘mile trike ride. Now heโ€™s training to walk 26.2 miles through London this April.

โ€œIโ€™m turning 50 this year, and I wanted a challenge! By showing what can be achieved by someone like me, a triple amputee, with the right mindset and support network, I want others to see what they can overcome.โ€
