Andy Reid MBE - Standing Tall Foundation

Andy Reid MBE - Standing Tall Foundation In October 2009, Corporal Andy Reid MBE stepped on a Taliban improvised explosive device while on patrol in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

The Standing Tall Foundation promote the mental and physical health of all community groups through the provision of counselling, addiction support, Housing and Benefits advice and physical activity initiatives. Injured so badly that it was thought he would not survive, he defied the odds to the extent that, within a month, he was able to meet up with members of his patrol again. Since then as a t

riple amputee, he has gone on to carry out many arduous challenges to raise money and give back to the associations that helped him and his family through difficult times. To assist him in his endeavours, Andy set up the Standing Tall Foundation in March of 2020, perhaps the worst time in modern history to do so. With little in the way of resources and funding he set about assisting people on an individual basis. Along the way he tackled homelessness, attempted suicide, job loss, depression and various mental health scenarios, much of it at his own expense and time. Each fresh case presented a whole new set of circumstances to deal with and resolve or put measures in place to help. The Standing Tall Foundation has now evolved, and promotes the mental and physical health of all community groups through the provision of counselling, addiction support and physical activity initiatives. We further extend this support into the community to help those in financial hardship, including the homeless, via the provision of grants, items and services using the resources secured by the Foundation or those made available to us.

What a great moment seeing Andy featured on ITV News after his epic marathon challenge on Sunday. It’s amazing to see his story being shared so widely, the media play such an important role in celebrating achievements like this, and it’s all part of what comes with being a true hero.

But while these appearances are so well deserved, it’s easy to forget just how exhausting the aftermath must be. After pushing himself through such an immense challenge, Andy is still having to stay “on,” keep talking, keep showing up, and hasn’t really had the chance to properly rest or wind down yet.

Let’s show some appreciation for just how hard that must be — and for the fact he’s still going strong. The support has been incredible so far, and every message, share, and donation means so much.

Please keep the support coming as we work together to help Andy reach the £50k target. Massive thanks to everyone who has backed him so far — you’re all part of something special. ❤️🙏

Heartfelt and impactful interview from Andy on ITV and This Morning. Even though exhaustion must be setting in now, you still manage to look fresh and carry a great message!

Massive congratulations to all the other participants who took part in the TCS London Marathon yesterday, all for a brilliant cause.

HE’S DONE IT!!! 🥳💪

Tonight, history was made at the TCS London Marathon.

Our Co- Founder and extraordinary leader William Andrew Reid became the first ever triple amputee to complete this iconic race, an absolutely incredible, awe-inspiring, and phenomenal achievement.

He never stopped. He never gave up. Every single step was driven by purpose, remembering why he was doing it and who he was doing it for.

This journey was about far more than crossing a finish line. It was about raising vital support for veterans and the wider community facing mental health challenges, addiction, housing difficulties, and welfare needs.

Words truly cannot describe how proud we are of Andy. His courage, determination, and resilience have inspired so many, proving that no obstacle is too great when you lead with heart and purpose.

A huge tribute also goes to his incredible support walker, Ged Mason OBE, Executive Chairman of Morson Group whose unwavering encouragement and support helped make this historic moment possible.

Thanks to everyone who supported and made this possible 🙏

Tonight, we celebrate not just an extraordinary achievement, but an extraordinary man making a real difference in the lives of others ❤️
