Autumn is the time of year for reflecting and letting go - but how do you view letting go?

I know in the past myself I’ve viewed letting go as a sign of failure, an admittance of defeat. But look at the trees… every year they let go of old leaves. They don’t criticise themselves for having failed, they don’t fight to hold onto these old leaves, thinking they can make them green again… they simply let go knowing that this is the right thing for them.

Those leaves then fall to the ground where they still have a purpose. They then become the much needed nourishment in the soil for the tree to continue growing. Without these leaves or ‘life experiences’ we wouldn’t have the ‘nourishment’ to grow.
All stages of natures cycles are important.

What if, instead of viewing letting go of something; a belief, a habit, a job, a relationship… whatever it is that is no longer the best for you, as a failure…you view this as making space for the new ‘leaves’ to grow?

The ‘leaves’ that you’re shedding have not been a waste of time and energy… they will nourish you to grow into the next best version of yourself, all stages of the cycle are important and relevant in helping you to grow 🩵

Do you have non-negotiables that you stick to no matter what? Or do you put your spiritual self care to the bottom of your to-do list?

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese art of arranging buildings, objects, and space in an environment to achieve harmony and balance.

I’m sure you’ve all felt that feeling of anxiousness when your home is out of order, then the peace that comes after a good clear out?

This is not a coincidence, our environment and everything in it has an energy ‘qi’ and if it becomes cluttered and stagnant, then energy around us becomes negative.

Carnelian is one of my favourites, such a beautiful colour!
Carnelian is a wonderful crystal to work with if you are focusing on strengthening your sacral chakra. The centre for fun, creativity and passion.

Without balance in this area we can experience;

Emotional
Feeling emotionally detached, lonely, or isolated, irritable or explosive, or fearful of pleasure.

Physical
Pain in the lower back or hips, disorders of the reproductive organs, urinary system, or gallbladder, or infections in the bladder or kidneys.

Sexual
Low s*xual energy or not feeling pleasure, s*xual dysfunction, or an excessive s*x drive.

We can work on the chakra chakra by tuning into our pleasure. We don’t need a reason to have fun… it’s our birthright. We NEED to have pleasure in life. Do something today that you enjoy… just for the sake of it!

Studies have found that people who regularly drink less water have an increased risk of developing depression and anxiety. The combination of dehydration, zapping the brain’s energy and cutting down serotonin production can increase depression symptoms.

The same is true for anxiety. When dehydrated, the body is stressed, which causes the adrenal glands to kick into overdrive and releases excess cortisol. Cortisol is the stress hormone our body uses to fight perceived danger. An increase in cortisol will result in physical responses of higher heart rate, muscle tension and a general feeling of uneasiness.

Here’s a task I’ve set my Transform students today; perhaps have a go yourself.

🧠Coaching question to uncover unconscious programming.

One of my earliest memories (and this sounds so silly) but I was in nursery school and singing away sat on the toilet, the teacher came in and shouted at me and told me to be quiet.

For her it was probably something that she never thought about again, but for me that memory is etched in my mind. My adult brain is now able to rationally deal with this but in that moment, I was taught that to express myself freely was wrong, it embarrassed me.

For that memory to stick shows what a big impact that’s had on my life and even now, I’m the one who will stay quiet, because staying small is safe. Feeling shame is not.

If I could go back and tell that teacher maybe to praise me for my beautiful singing, maybe my life would have looked a little different. Teachers have such a huge impact on how we are shaped.

Think of a memory positive or negative that you feel has influenced your life. If it’s a negative, how could you go back and give yourself the response you needed instead?

Meditation has been extensively researched and shown to offer numerous benefits for both mental and physical health.

Regular practice can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression by promoting relaxation and emotional stability. It enhances focus, attention, and cognitive flexibility, aiding in better decision-making and problem-solving.

Physically, meditation can lower blood pressure, improve heart health, and boost the immune system. Additionally, it fosters a greater sense of well-being and life satisfaction by encouraging mindfulness and a deeper connection with oneself and others.

Meditation is not about emptying the mind of thoughts (which would be impossible) but rather being about to recognise the thoughts.

We offer a free guided meditation session at every other Thursday at 10 am plus I also offer 1-2-1 or small group, guided sessions or workplace wellness.

Worry is an anxious way of thinking about ourselves and the world. It usually involves thoughts about what bad things might happen in the future and/or whether we will be able to cope with them.

Although worry can sometimes be about events that occurred in the past, the worry is typically about how that event could affect the future.

Nearly everyone worries at some time.
Normal worry usually interferes little with daily life, because we are usually able to stop it. However, the frequency of worry and the extent of anxiety it causes is different for everyone.

Worry may become distressing itself (that is, worry is the problem much more than the feared event) and may interfere with normal functions, such as sleep or concentration, particularly when we are faced with stressful circumstances.

Steps for when worry is overwhelming;

1. Select a short ‘worry period’ for your day.

2. Observe your worries daily so that you can learn to catch them quicker.

3. When you observe a worry, postpone until your worry period. Reminding yourself that you’ll deal with it later.

4. Focus yourself on the present.

5. In your worry period, it may be more useful for you to distinguish between what you can/can’t control.
Perhaps think about what the worse case scenario could be, you may realise that it’s something that you could handle anyway should this happen - or it could be highly unlikely that that could ever happen, so the worrying is a waste of your energy.
