We hope everyone stayed safe during the storm last night. The surgery is open today; however, we are operating with minimal administrative and clinical staff. As a result, some appointments may need to be cancelled.

We are cancelling all appointments for clinical staff who live out of town until 9:00am, when we hope road conditions and visibility will have improved.

Please stay safe today, and thank you for your understanding.

πŸ’‰ Protect Yourself This Winter – Get Your Flu Vaccine

Flu can be unpleasant, but for some people it can cause serious complications. The flu vaccine is the best protection against flu and helps reduce the risk of spreading it to others who may be more vulnerable.

The vaccine is offered on the NHS every year in autumn and early winter – before flu starts spreading widely.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:
βœ… Are aged 65 or over (including those turning 65 by 31 March 2026)
βœ… Have certain long-term health conditions (like diabetes, heart disease, lung conditions and more)
βœ… Are pregnant
βœ… Live in a care home
βœ… Are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance
βœ… Live with someone who has a weakened immune system

πŸ’™ Getting vaccinated not only protects you, but also helps protect your family, friends, and the wider community.

πŸ“… Don’t put it off – book your flu jab as soon as you’re eligible or call us to check if you are eligible.

🌟 OUR NEW APPOINTMENT SYSTEM WILL GO LIVE ON 1ST OCTOBER 2025 🌟

We’re introducing a new booking system on Wednesday 1st October 2025. This system will help us prioritise urgent cases, reduce waiting times, and make sure everyone gets the right care, at the right time, with the right person.

We’ll be encouraging our patients to submit a request form online - but don’t worry, if you’re unable to do this our reception team will complete the form with you over the phone or at the front desk.

Let’s leave the 8:30am rush in the past! More information will follow from the practice, so please keep out an eye out.

We appreciate your patience and support as we work to improve the way we care for our communityπŸ’™

πŸ“’ Prescription Ordering Reminder

To make sure your medication is ready when you need it, please order your repeat prescription around 10 days before it is due.

This allows time for:
βœ”οΈ The Stennack team to process your request and pass it to your GP, then your GP to review and sign off - this can take up to 3 days (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays)
βœ”οΈ Your chosen pharmacy to receive and dispense your prescription - this can take 7-10 days

ℹ️ Please note, you do not have to wait at the pharmacy for your prescription to be made up. Once we have processed it within our three-day window, you can collect it from your pharmacy. If your pharmacy has not yet made up your prescription and you choose to wait, please be prepared for a delay and be patient with their staff – they are working hard to minimise waiting times for all patients.

πŸ’Š How to order your repeat prescription:
πŸ“± NHS App – quick, secure, and available 24/7
πŸ’» Online consultation system – https://accurx.nhs.uk/patient-initiated/y01922
πŸ“ Paper request – hand it in at reception or into our prescription box in the foyer
πŸ“§ Email – send to prescriptions.stennack@nhs.net
(include full name, date of birth, address, and the medications you require)

We try not to take prescription requests over the phone to help reduce call waiting times. However, if you are unable to use any of the above methods, we will support you where we can.

Forgot to order your medication?
πŸ‘‰ Contact your nominated pharmacy – they may be able to provide a short emergency supply until your prescription is processed
πŸ‘‰ Out of hours – call NHS 111 for advice and emergency medication help
πŸ‘‰ In urgent situations – we may be able to issue a high-priority prescription, but this is for emergencies only and cannot be guaranteed for non-urgent requests

By ordering your medication in good time, you help us to keep services running smoothly and ensure your treatment is not interrupted.

Thank you for your cooperation,
The Stennack Surgery Team
